Rick Perry is obviously being pushed through the system as the preferred GOP presidential candidate. ITT discuss what you know about the man...good things and bad.I'll start with this clip which has pretty much put a bad taste in my mouth about him (among other things). The clip clearly shows a BOA affiliate offering support to Perry. The man already is in the banking worlds pocket!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDdTLCfG2TM

agreed, but it's the truth. IMO, Rick Perry is George W. Bush II and will bring about a serious downfall in the conservative party. I honestly feel that this election is our last chance to pull our shit together as a country and Perry is NOT the answer. Unfortunately, the dude is a slick talking, John Wayne wanna-be cowboy and all the neck-necks in 'murrica love that shit. He supports all the GOP talking point and gains all their lobbyist money The two-party system is sooo fucking frustrating!
9/7/2011 9:13:21 PM
Romney, for all that sucks about him, was the only choice that made sense for the Republican establishment.
9/7/2011 9:53:36 PM
I found it pretty shocking that Rick Perry stood up there and said that he is against science and will not listen to "some scientist somewhere" telling him that burning fossil fuels excessively is causing global warming.
9/7/2011 9:56:00 PM
And then immediately bragged about reducing CO2 emissions.
9/7/2011 9:57:39 PM
^^well hello Chris Mathews

^I agree. That's why I don't support Perry

for years I've heard that Perry makes Bush look like Einstein I'm now starting to see that
9/7/2011 11:08:09 PM
I don't see how Perry is GWB II.Perry seems WAY worse. He's like if Ron Paul and Sarah Palin had a child.
9/7/2011 11:26:04 PM
9/7/2011 11:30:25 PM
W was bush 2 and obama is bush 3 so perry could only be bush 4 at the lowest.
9/7/2011 11:30:56 PM
Don't forget George Bush III(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_P._Bush) so, counting Obama, Perry would be George Bush V.

what was the context of that?it looks an awful lot like Ron Paul should have slapped Rick Perry.
9/8/2011 7:37:40 AM
agreedsupposedly it was about Perry issuing some executive order about the HPV vaccine. it would be hard to tell exactly because it happened during a breakhttp://www.reddit.com/r/politics/comments/k8h39/during_commercial_break_during_wednesdays_gop/

I know where the quote comes from.
9/8/2011 10:14:57 AM
so what exactly do you call obama and his followers?
9/8/2011 10:23:31 AM
Id have to agree that Perry sounded like a bumbling idiot last night. Reaaally hope he loses steam in the polls. He may or may not have same policies as W, but he sure reminds me of him. He is not electable and will definitely not pick up independent support.Imo Romney is by far the most electable. I thought he did a decent job defending himself last night and was the most well spoken.Thought Huntsman was good last night but might be better in 2016. Herman Cain is my underdog whom i really like.
9/8/2011 10:30:39 AM
Nothing's going to change if we reelect Obama or elect Romney, so what's the point?
9/8/2011 12:18:21 PM
perry's response to the AGW question show that he really doesn't know what the hell he is talking about and he just took it from a partisan perspective. He couldn't name one scientist that he thought was important. Not one. I might not have the most persuasive arguments, but I can at least name the scientists involvedlet's quote it again, to show how stupid it was
9/8/2011 12:48:54 PM
9/8/2011 1:05:51 PM
^^Rick Perry hasn't demonstrated that he understands *any* topic.
9/8/2011 1:09:07 PM
i particularly cringed at his response to the executions question where he said in effect that the system was perfect. I've heard two stories out of texas in the past week that says quite the opposite and that the panel that is supposed to oversee appeals is little more than a rubber stamp. how in the fuck can you claim such a thing like that with two major media pieces about it in the last week?

Honestly, is this the best Republicans can do? Six months ago, we we're talking about Donald Trump. Who will be the next idiot the GOP anoints as the new conservative vanguard?
9/8/2011 3:11:36 PM
^who do you think would be a good GOP candidate.
9/8/2011 4:19:50 PM
Gary Johnson.

+1 for Gary JohnsonJohnson as President and Paul as VP would be my ideal combo. The Republican party is crumbling from within. If they don't pull their shit together, the door will be wide open for Obama to take office for another term.

too bad a large amount of that is due to illegal immigration. given that every attempt by a state to deal with it has been thrown out by the courts and the courts have said that we have to give food stamps and welfare to illegal aliens, that's about as disingenuous a statistic as there ever was. The problem there is exclusively created by a failure of the federal government, yet you put it squarely on the states who have specifically been prevented from fixing it. what's your point again?[Edited on September 9, 2011 at 2:55 PM. During his first presidential campaign, GWB was a lot more centrist and eloquent than Perry.
