are you looking for a basic dish or one of their new HD dishes?

prefer HD, but will use SD at this point to get started.

I've got the 5LNB dish for $75. you can come get it in durham, or i can bring it to cary or NCSU.

^does it work? how hard is it to set up? i bought a 3lnb slimline earlier this week and tried it tonight for 2 hours and couldn't get ANY signal...what gives?

it worked when we had DTV. canceled for cable. We had it professionally installed, so i don't know how hard they are to set up.If you can't get a 3lnb, then a 5lnb will probably be even harder. If you're looking for portable, I'd go with a single lnb. level the pole, set the elevation (should only have to do this once), then sweep the sky till you get a signal.

My parents have one... it's in a large debris pile down east. if you can pull it out of the rubble, it's yours

well my problem with 3lnb was that i need a power inserter...does your 5lnb dish need a power inserter (not inverter) or have a multi-switch?

my dish did not use a power inserter that I know of. When we dismantled everything, there were cables going directly from the dish to the receivers. The receivers didn't have anything extra hanging off the back of them. The dish has 4 outputs, so I'm pretty sure it has built in multiplexers.
