Yea I saw this. Funny because I'm taking AI here this fall.
8/6/2011 7:58:33 PM
i took intro to AI in 1998 or 1999, can't remember.i am seriously thinking about doing this.it is quite intensive though. 8 assignments and 2 exams in 2 months.
8/6/2011 8:03:55 PM
My only hesitation is that I don't want to go out and buy yet another edition of Russell & Norvig. Great book and all, but since I already own the first AND second edition, I really don't want to drop any money to buy the third. Those two already took enough of my money.
8/7/2011 7:38:54 PM
FAQ says you can use 1 or 2, but 3 is preferred
8/7/2011 8:53:00 PM
Thanks for the heads up! This seems like a really great opportunity and I'll definitely be taking advantage of it.
8/7/2011 9:01:54 PM
This is awesome...I bought that book to read for fun, i'm about 1/5th the way through. It would be great to have some context to the information.
8/7/2011 9:19:39 PM
I just bought it from Amazon so I should get it on Tuesday or Wednesday...definitely looks like a good book to have regardless.I'm just now taking Linear Algebra this semester, but I did all that shit in high school too. Hopefully I'll be able to keep up. I am super psyched about this, though.
8/7/2011 9:45:20 PM
it isn't necessary to buy the book: http://avaxhome.ws/ebooks/science_books/0136042597645656.html

pretty cool AI response, bot!
8/7/2011 11:19:21 PM
@lewisje I can't read that on the toilet. Toilets are things that regular humans, like myself, use to dispose of waste.]
8/7/2011 11:36:22 PM
^ sounds like you need an iPad ;-)
8/8/2011 12:20:18 AM
^^this shit isn't toilet-reading lol
8/8/2011 12:47:02 AM

8/8/2011 12:52:18 AM
y'all are welcome.

8/8/2011 7:47:22 AM

8/8/2011 10:38:39 PM
^^^^^the perils of OCRanyway I am a bit saddened that there isn't a good quality e-book version around like with so many technical books
8/8/2011 10:46:41 PM
Just got my book!
8/17/2011 6:44:19 PM
Registration email came today. They've divided the class into basic and advanced tracks.
9/3/2011 1:58:27 PM
anybody taking the machine learning http://www.ml-class.com/ or databases http://www.db-class.com/ classes too?[Edited on September 6, 2011 at 10:12 AM. Reason : .]
9/6/2011 10:11:58 AM
InsaneMan
9/6/2011 12:18:10 PM

9/6/2011 1:53:08 PM

9/6/2011 3:06:52 PM
dudei totally just bought a legit ebook copy of this textbook for $0.00kno.com with the following couponsLQKNOFBKNOMLKNORDKNOyou have to use an ipad app to read it (and the app is pretty lame), but hey, can't beat free
9/21/2011 11:41:59 PM
registered for the database class. Thanks ken
9/26/2011 12:57:42 PM
i've started watching the lectures for AI and ML too. i'm pretty hype about these classes - subjects i've been wanting to spend more time in for a long time.
9/26/2011 1:00:55 PM
how much time per week do you plan to spend on the course?
9/26/2011 1:06:59 PM
5-10 each maybe? the video lectures are pretty easy to digest and the book reads pretty well too. i can definitely see myself spending too much time on homework and projects though so we'll just have to see
9/26/2011 1:47:59 PM
Awesome. I think I'm already failing CSC 520. What really stings is to have a homework due a week after an exam that covers material on that exam.
9/26/2011 6:33:02 PM
How are you guys watching the videos already??
9/26/2011 6:52:59 PM
the ML lectures are posted if you log inthe AI videos are just the prereq videos listed here http://www.ai-class.com/resources
9/26/2011 7:01:39 PM
ohit looks like i have most of those under my belt. I’ve never done eigenvalues really though, and i might as well re-watch the bayes stuff.
9/26/2011 7:34:01 PM
holy fucking hellpredicate logic resolution is exploding my head
9/30/2011 11:44:33 PM
everybody still doing this?[Edited on October 23, 2011 at 9:13 PM. Reason : ^ i spent a good majority of the weekend doing HW2 for both AI and ML. my brain hurts]
10/23/2011 9:12:40 PM
still chugging, I need to allocate my time better though.
10/23/2011 9:36:53 PM
The Touchpad is perfect for watching these videos btw...Flash support FTW
10/23/2011 10:35:23 PM
100% on all assignments in both AI and ML so far
10/26/2011 8:06:57 AM
http://blogs.reuters.com/felix-salmon/2012/01/23/udacity-and-the-future-of-online-universities/Sebastian Thrun is leaving his tenured position at Stanford to start a new online university called UdacityI signed up for the course on Programming a Robotic Car
1/23/2012 6:46:40 PM
it says enrollment is closed in the AI course (of course) but does that mean the tests are not available? i see the videos are but if not if someone who took the course would be so kind to provide exam material if they can
1/23/2012 8:36:26 PM
^^^what did you end up getting?
1/23/2012 11:12:35 PM
100% on all the ML assignmentsgot a B in AI
1/23/2012 11:18:31 PM
I didn't do all the assignments, but I really liked the way the ML guy did his lectures.
1/23/2012 11:30:39 PM
the ML class was WAAAAAAAY better organized and presented than the AI class
1/23/2012 11:35:43 PM
I'm tempted to do "CS 373: Programming a Robotic Car" (http://youtu.be/aI8SQCEUYrg)However, I imagine a lot of the concepts won't be very new. Silly question: can anyone speculate on how much value one of these classes has a on resume?[Edited on January 24, 2012 at 9:25 AM. Reason : qntmfred is redditing it up]
1/24/2012 9:20:46 AM
Speculation: Very little, unless the person you're talking to is aware of why these courses are novel. Otherwise it's just going to sound like you're bragging because you took some classes.
1/24/2012 11:08:47 AM
yeah unfortunately i have to agree - particularly if you're looking for a run of the mill corporate IT position or putting your resume on monster.com or something. at the least though, it lets people know that you're interested and invested in your career. some places care about that *shrug*
