OH WE BACKAnd introducing:9/11 at Redskins9/19 vs Rams9/25 at Eagles10/2 at Cardinals10/9 vs Seahawks10/16 vs Bills10/30 vs Dolphins11/6 at Patriots11/13 at 49ers11/20 vs Eagles11/28 at Saints12/4 vs Packers12/11 at Cowboys12/18 vs Redskins12/24 at Jets1/1 vs CowboysLast season we were one punt out of bounds away from winning the division (fuck you, Matt Dodge). I'm expecting wins against Miami, Buffalo, San Fran, StL, Arizona, and a sweep of the Skins. A split with the Eagles and Cowboys would put us at 9 wins. The Packers, Saints, Pats, and Jets will all be tough, but I would bet anything that this will be another double-digit win season and I have very high hopes for a return to the playoffs.
7/29/2011 12:37:16 AM
lol Marvin Austin
7/29/2011 12:37:57 AM
I wasn't thrilled that they drafted Austin, but if he can burn UNC's program to the ground AND help the Giants make the playoffs in the same year, I would love it.By the way, I forgot to include:
7/29/2011 12:42:46 AM
Uh... you know that Steve Smith and Ahmad Bradshaw are both unrestricted free agents, right?
7/29/2011 12:57:37 AM
If neither gets re-signed I will probably cry and give up on the team.
7/29/2011 1:17:47 AM
iirc some sports writers were tweeting that Plax has been in talks with the NYGs
7/29/2011 1:32:59 AM
^Giants and Steelers, but many NY teammates are making big pushes for him to come back. Report is he had dinner with Coughlin the other night to talk it over. I think resigning Smith should take precedence, but imagine what that receiver core could be like with Smith, Plax, and Nicks all on the field with (hopefully) Kevin Boss still at tight end.By the way, I really like Dan Graziano's take on the Osi holdout situation:

GREAT NEWS!!!
7/29/2011 6:27:52 PM
EVEN BETTER NEWS!!!
7/29/2011 6:29:53 PM
Osi has reported to camp. Jacobs' restructure is complete. Plax is going to the Jets.
7/31/2011 10:31:47 AM
Bradshaw officially locked in for 4 more years with Big Blue. Osi's agent was told he can actively search for a team willing to trade, but the price will likely be a first round pick (and possibly more). Smith and Boss are the only pieces left to figure out.
8/1/2011 8:30:37 PM
Boss has signed with Oakland. He'll be hard to replace.
8/6/2011 2:16:41 AM
Amukamara breaks a bone in his foot 2 days after signing his rookie contract Now we have to pay first-round money for a guy who might not even play this year.Ben Patrick, the TE the Giants signed when they started getting worried that Boss wouldn't return, has decided to retire. He only wanted to play if he could play with Boss. So now we have neither.Rough week.[Edited on August 7, 2011 at 1:58 PM. Reason : -]

8/7/2011 2:07:31 PM
The Eagles keep getting better and the Giants keep getting unluckier. Oh, and Osi is still being a whiny little bitch.
8/7/2011 2:11:55 PM
Eagles signed Steve Smith lol
8/10/2011 11:27:28 PM
I can't believe he would do that to the team. Of all the places to sign.I hope his knee ends up never recovering. At least not until after Week 3.
8/11/2011 12:50:31 AM
Giants' D is getting a lot of press recently, now that Osi is on board and Deon Grant is back for another year.I particularly enjoy this quote from Mike Vaccaro of the New York Post:

This is a damn good team. I was not expecting the season to go this well. It is strange however that the only losses thus far came against 2 (Redskins and Seahawks) of the worst 4 opponents we've played (the other two being the Rams and Dolphins).9/11 at Redskins9/19 vs Rams9/25 at Eagles10/2 at Cardinals10/9 vs Seahawks10/16 vs Bills10/30 vs Dolphins11/6 at Patriots11/13 at 49ers11/20 vs Eagles11/28 at Saints12/4 vs Packers12/11 at Cowboys12/18 vs Redskins12/24 at Jets1/1 vs Cowboys
11/9/2011 11:14:39 AM
those 2 games against Seattle and Washington are such thorns in my side. more so the Seattle game. the G-men have always played down to lesser opponents and it is so damn frustrating as a fan to see this time and time again. just play at a high level and beat the snot out of them! but no, that's not what the Giants do.i'm pleasantly surprised they have the record they do. with all the losses and injuries this season, i figured they'd be more like 2-6 at this point. they Pats game was a huge win and i hope it springboards them a lot into the toughest part of their schedule.
11/9/2011 11:20:45 AM
I was expecting them to have 2 losses at this point but I thought they would be to the Eagles and Patriots. I'm feeling good (but not overly hopeful) about SF...our passing game will handle them just fine, we just need to step up the run defense and stick it to Gore.I think we will go 2-2 against 49ers, Saints, Packers, and Jets and win at least 3 of the remaining 4 division games (probably a loss @Dallas). Final record 11-5, good for 2nd or 3rd in the conference depending on how the 49ers hold up the rest of the way.

11/9/2011 12:30:07 PM
very tough loss yesterday. G-men had their opportunities to win and just didn't follow through on them. Cruz and Manningham have to wake up and realize they can't make these rookie mistakes. Cruz's wide-open missed catch killed me; there is no excuse for that.
11/14/2011 10:24:57 AM
At any rate, if we make the playoffs, we proved that we are capable of winning in SanFran if we just cut back on the mistakes.
11/14/2011 11:00:37 AM
The magic number is 7 (combined number of Giants wins and Cowboys losses in order to clinch the division). If we manage to sweep the Cowboys the number goes down to 3. Dallas has a cakewalk the rest of the season, so we can't count on them losing any more. We have to win 3 out of the following:EaglesSaintsPackersRedskinsJetsI feel good about our chances of winning two of those games, I'm just praying we can find a third (and again, this is all assuming we sweep the Cowboys, which I'm not confident we can).
11/15/2011 3:16:16 AM
Per usual the team lets us down when things get going. If we lose to the Saints I think the season is over, even with a sweep of Dallas. 4 losses isn't usually enough to make me worry this late in the season but with this schedule it is pretty depressing. I hate that we played the Skins early when they were hot and now have to play Dallas twice while they're at their best.SaintsPackersCowboysRedskinsJetsCowboysWith as good as the conference is this year it will take at least 10 wins to make the playoffs if not 11, and I don't think I see 4-5 wins in there

11/29/2011 1:12:26 AM
This just keeps happening. 2009: We were having a great season, undefeated after 5 games, then had to match up with the also undefeated Saints. We put everything we had into that game, still got crushed, and went 3-8 the rest of the season (gave up 40+ points in each of the last 2 games...against the Panthers and Vikings...ugh)2010: Giants start 6-2, then lose consecutive games to Cowboys and Eagles, starting a 4-4 end to the season including getting crushed by the Packers who only got into the playoffs ahead of us because of that tie-breaker.2011: Another 6-2 start, only 2 losses coming against shitty teams, pull of an upset no one expected against the Patriots, then fell short after giving it their all to the 49ers just to start a downhill spiral we all knew would happen eventually.Speaking of the Packers...they have now won 17 straight games including last year's playoffs. The absolute demolishing of the Giants was the first of that streak. Since we helped them begin it, it would only be fitting that we end it. We seem to be really good at killing streaks...but I would be lying if I said I thought we could actually pull it off.[Edited on November 29, 2011 at 1:29 AM. Reason : -]

Do you enjoy talking to yourself?
12/2/2011 12:31:46 AM
So what needs to happen for Coughlin to save his job? Or is he a dead man walking coaching at this poing?
12/2/2011 12:46:21 AM
^^^^ There was an article in the WSJ about the Giants strength of schedule 1st half of years vs. second half over the last 5 years or so. We had top 5 most difficult second half like 4 out of 5 years I think I remember reading.Fuck Kevin Gilbride.Today is going to suck.
12/4/2011 2:40:29 PM
Not bad. Reminded me of the 2007 regular season matchup with the Pats...except we actually needed this win.Thank goodness the Cowboys blew it. The Giants have to be feeling much better about their chances now, but next week is must-win.
12/4/2011 11:47:34 PM
lol makes you wonder what the refs are doing under that hood (porn)
12/6/2011 10:51:52 AM
^Would have made a 4 point difference There was also a pass interference call on Prince down field that made no sense to me, and even Giant-hater Troy Aikman said the Giants got screwed.I hated the refs so much in this game.
12/6/2011 2:04:25 PM
I believe I heard the announcers say something to the degree of:"freezing the kicker statistically does not work"SUCK IT, DALLAS!
12/11/2011 11:55:17 PM
I hate the Giants, but I hate the Cowboys so much moreThat was the funniest thing I've seen all day
12/11/2011 11:58:47 PM
AGH I can't wait for next Sunday! The final game of the season hasn't meant this much since before I can remember...and that includes that superbowl precursor vs the pats.
12/26/2011 11:59:16 PM
Playoffs, here we come!

at least those are home games; playing the Saints in NO is brutal.

Compare that to the Patriots, who finished best in AFC:Home games: 49ers, Bills, Cardinals, Colts, Dolphins, Jets, Texans, Broncos.Away games: Bills, Dolphins, Jaguars, Jets, Rams, Seahawks, Titans, RavensOther than @Ravens, there isn't a single difficult game for them
1/3/2012 11:23:51 AM
Christ, man. When you get done asking why there's no late game on CBS, take five minutes and go read wikipedia or something. Most popular sport in the country and no one understands shit.
1/3/2012 11:28:41 AM
I understand it perfectly. But the system is meant to make the schedule harder for teams who finish high the previous year, but it never seems to.Giants were #2 last year and as a result played NoLA and Green Bay instead of Atlanta and Chicago this year. That's a huge difference in strength of schedule (I think we had THE toughest SoS this year), and it looks like it is only getting tougher with AFC North on next year's schedule.[Edited on January 3, 2012 at 11:35 AM.
