I'm having a moron moment. Is antifreeze only running through the engine radiator...ie, not through the condenser or the trans cooler?I've got a pretty significant leak that just cropped up today and am trying to decide whether to tackle it myself or let a mechanic do it.Any of you know what book says this repair should run me?

most of the front end has to come off to do it so any decent mechanic will charge you a good amount. i replaced mine in about 4 hours right at my apt complex. if you have the time i'd say give it a shot.[Edited on July 6, 2011 at 4:30 PM. Reason : .]

...err, no A/C on the drag car Or my 67 Chevelle we restored and I drove in high school for that matterI thought about it for about 7 seconds after I posted this thread but said fuck it, if I went so far as to display my moronacity I might as well leave it here to be properly scolded for it.^ I found a post on Jeep Forum that goes into detail about it. The radiator comes today so I'm going to give it a shot. And a local mechanic is quoting 3.4 hrs for it.

trans cooler sometimes is included in an end tank of radiator - so you would have trans fluid 'passing' through the radiator. As long as you learn from this.....ah shit, shame on you man.

Any reason to get the A/C recharged immediately or can I drive it for a bit?

If it's empty, I doubt the compressor will engage. Regardless, I would leave the AC off to avoid running a dry compressor. I don't see how it could hurt to drive it, though.

hello men of the garage. i didn't want to start a new topic for my question so i am posting in this semi-relevant thread, as i too have an 02 gc. my check engine light is on, i got the code p0161 which i googled and found is an 02 sensor problem. i asked a mechanic at the jeep dealership about it when i was having my oil changed and he didn't seem to think it was a big deal. from what i've read i might have to buy a new part which is not too expensive, but i'm wondering if this is something i should try to have a friend replace (let's be honest, i know nothing about automobile mechanics), or if i should take it to the dealership and let them overcharge me for some random stuff because i'm female.also, is my car going to explode, that is also a concern?
