I got a ticket a few months back, they are just now getting around to notifying me via cashiers office handing me a bill. Im no longer a student and wasnt when it was issued.

They have pictures, but no timestamps. The pictures also suck. They show a permit sign in one, and in another one just my license plate (nothing else).

As technically NCSU is a state org, anyone know a way to protest this in a real court? Or a way to have it declared a private issue and maybe take it to small claims? I have a feeling transportation with all my objections they will still turn it down.

I got a few after I graduated and never even considering paying them. Tit for tat for all the times I got fucked while I was a student for parking in the midnight to seven lots on campus at like 11:53.

the first (and only) time i got one on campus i e-mailed to complain that the area was not clearly marked, which it truly wasn't. they didn't drop it but they cut it in half.

i got one for $100 for "parking in a no parking zone" while i was canoeing on lake raleigh. all the market parking spaces were full and i parked out of the way on the side of the parking lot where everybody else always parks. they knocked it down to $50. or maybe it was $50 and they knocked it down to $25 i don't fucking remember, but i told them they should take the money i paid them and use it for a "no parking" sign to put there.

i had even paid the visitor parking fee at the booth b/c i got there before 5 pm.

In other news I was able to get a ticket removed from my fiances credit report by simply disputing it....the ticket is still not paid, but they have stopped sending letters and it is deleted off her credit.

I did a couple things that I won't talk about there to strike back at NCSU transportation back in the day.

I will never, ever donate a single cent to NCSU after the bullshit they pulled on me a few times with parking tickets. I don't give a fuck if I win the powerball...I'm more likely to donate money to UNC (which is to say that the chance is zero)

I got three:

1) A bush completely obstructed a sign detailing that a small lot was still reserved even after hours and on weekends. That little lot immediately west of Winston. I was surprised, but later found the sign behind a bush.
2) There were a lot of cars parked in a row, with lines barely visible. I just parked in what appeared to be a space - between two cars somewhere in the pack. When I came back all the cars were gone revealing that people had kind of made up about 4 additional rows that weren't really spots - but you could hardly tell from the lines since they were extremely faded. It also didn't make much sense, the lot had loads of room and they could have easily had 8 more rows if they wanted.

Had to pay those in full. I suspect the people in charge of enforcing parking just sat at those locations and made bank all day. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that they put money in the budget to plant the bush and they parked cars in a neat row leaving gaps to lure people into thinking the gaps were actual spots. Parking. Big business.

3) I got a ticket when I clearly had a current permit that was properly displayed... and they only reduced it by half. They had my car, plates, permit, everything on record all current. Still only halved it.

Sounds like you actually broke a rule and considering they only went half on me when I didn't break the rules I don't think you stand a good chance.

Fuck NCSU parking. I lived in Bragaw a year and got one of those premo spots out front right along Dan Allen drive on a Friday afternoon. Those motherfuckers came out there Sunday afternoon and a put a sign up saying that the lot would be closed that evening starting at 7pm for construction or some shit. Ticketing didn't start until 7am (I think) and I go out there at 6:55 to move my car and there was already a parking ticket on my car and a fucking parking cop there along with a tow truck 5 minutes from towing my shit.
