i like the actual song

i could do without the noodly instrumental bits, lol

the only '80s noodly instrumental bit i really enjoy is the tape-reversed bass solo in "you can call me al"

intro sets the tone of the jam and makes sure you know...

we're here to portable dance

i think it'd be fine with just the vocal fade-in

when it was first in yacht rock i wondered why i'd never paid attention to it, because it is a great song

then i realized i skipped the track on the record because of the dumb intro

Agreed. I don't know why they are deemed cheesy and made fun of. I love them with all my heart. Never made a bad song ever.

I just watched a movie called "Streets of Fire" from 1984. Willem Dafoe is "Raven", the leader of the Bombers motorcycle game. It's called a "rock and roll fable". Some black guys do a cover of "I can dream about you" (who i think dan hartman originally did?)

The wore makeup that was over-the-top, but was not convincingly ironic.

The used the production sounds of the era, but since they didn't make notable music outside of the era, that's their sound.

Their soft, wimpy songs are extra-wimpy.

My friend Ivan said this:

"If you don't like Hall & Oates, it's because you've decided you're going to dislike them just for the sake of doing it...because they rule."

I used to work with a guy who's dad played sax for them. I also worked with a redneck guy once who was Kenny Rogers' nephew.
