Particularly interested in good crunchy bread, but I'll take any input [Edited on May 29, 2011 at 12:06 AM. Reason : --ok so evidently sandwich doesn't have an t in it, SUE ME.]

^ I think it is...I did some searching and didn't see see one. I'm really just after the bread, but the fillings are important too.

maybe i'm the only one but i like subconscious turkey subs more than any other of the sub choices (subway, jersey mikes). i'd say it is on par with the harris teeter subs for me.but yeasandwich places in general are lacking. or GOOD sandwich places. is there even a real deli in raleigh (side topic)
5/29/2011 3:00:16 AM
Ruckus's sammiches are freaking amazing
5/29/2011 8:14:00 AM
Morrisville Deli or Peppers Sandwich Shop are the best two sandwich shops I've had in the Raleigh area. The are both on the corner of Davis Drive and Morrisville-Carpenter in Morrisville. Both are <2 minutes from my house so I eat at one of those two places at least once a week.
5/29/2011 8:14:26 AM
I miss subs.

This not a sub or in Raleigh but still an incredible sandwich. If they didn't operate on a retarded M-F 11-3:30 schedule I'd eat it alllll the time. I've always liked jersey mikes in Raleigh. I like charlies as well.[Edited on May 29, 2011 at 10:35 AM. Reason : ?]

http://www.davincisprime.com/Deli in Wake Forest that has amazing sandwiches. Everything about the sandwich is pretty good, but the best part is getting it on a ciabatta roll.

I got Sub Conscious delivery before and it was pretty solid
5/29/2011 10:57:05 AM
I agree that Ruckus makes a good sammich, I especially like their phillys.Village Deli is solid. I had Peppers before and wasn't impressed. I'll have to try Morrisville Deli sometime, I drive past it all the time just haven't stopped in. I normally try a reuben first when I eat at a new sammich spot, if you can make a good reuben you're good in my book. Jasons Deli makes a good reuben
5/29/2011 1:20:39 PM
ruckus makes bomb ass phillys but I'm not too high on their cold cuts, subconscious was surprisingly good the one time I ate there

Sadlack's
5/29/2011 1:25:11 PM
I don't understand why people are listing places like Jersey Mike's and Jason's Deli. You know these places exist outside of Raleigh, right?
5/29/2011 1:32:07 PM
Who cares. If its good it warrants mention
5/29/2011 1:36:22 PM
definitely not Sadlack's. overpriced and really not that great.(I'm also biased because I work right next door to them; we give their employees discounts and the favor is not returned )

village deli, at least the CV location, is disgusting. i'd give them worst sub in raleigh.and if you haven't eaten a subconscious sub (at least the deli ones, i've never tried the meatball...and i've heard to stay away from the pizza and pasta lol) then you are missing out. their bread is in fact pretty delicious.don't hate. and it is ALWAYS crowded at lunch so...i don't know when you are driving by but it isn't at lunch time! i always call in so i don't have to wait in line. it is tres hot in there though. i wouldn't recommend dining in.
5/29/2011 3:17:08 PM
The reason you can't find sub place is because the profit margin on them sucks. They are hard as hell to make. Everyone has their own customized sub that they like. If you put mayo on it, and the customer doesn't like mayo, you have to make it all over again... It's a high error/low profit venture and this is why not many sub places exist.
5/29/2011 3:26:23 PM
5/29/2011 3:32:42 PM
yes, because bulk flour, water, yeast, bulk mayo, bulk mustard, bulk lettuce, bulk tomatoes, bulk cheese and bulk meat is so expensive
5/29/2011 3:34:00 PM
^^ while that was a silly example...the larger point may be correct.it's a shame there are soooooooooo many pizza places and so few quality sandwich shops. it sounds like the profit margins may be higher at pizza places, but i spose there is also a factor of demand since errrbody eats pizza]
5/29/2011 3:35:23 PM
^^^,^^Congratulations for putting the sub industry out of business. It's that mentality that the industry isn't flourishing.[Edited on May 29, 2011 at 3:37 PM. Reason : .]
5/29/2011 3:36:58 PM
so you're saying it's easier to run a successful pizza parlor, but boygenius still fails at it?
5/29/2011 3:37:41 PM
omnomnomnomboondini'snot a sub place specifically but def one of my fav sandwich shops in the area

REALLY?! i haven't tried that place. i figured it was just another bagel shopgood chicken salad you say? i've been looking for some yummy chicken salad.
5/29/2011 3:46:37 PM
there used to be this place called fat phillys in cary, close to harrison. they would import ther bread from philly and it was hands downs the best one in wake county shitty location killed them. i think they might have a location in apex
5/29/2011 3:47:30 PM
Are you talking about Amarosa rolls?
5/29/2011 3:48:12 PM
couldnt tell you but the bread was amazing
5/29/2011 3:49:28 PM
Dalat for a Banh MiCheerz Deli for a Sub/Grinder. It might be Durham, but it's close enough.
5/29/2011 3:53:30 PM
Why would you "import" bread from Philly? That kills the whole fresh perspective, unless the geographical location of baking bread makes a greater difference on quality than time...
5/29/2011 3:55:47 PM
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amoroso%27s_Baking_CompanyCompany has a contract with Sysco and they tell new sub places to buy them market them as imported from Philadelphia Customers eat it up though... I didn't go with it because I'd be ashamed to be like everyone else.I buy my sub rolls from the bread and bagel place a few blocks away. They make their bread fresh everyday. It takes a load off my shoulders.
