maybe i'm the only one but i like subconscious turkey subs more than any other of the sub choices (subway, jersey mikes). i'd say it is on par with the harris teeter subs for me.

but yea

sandwich places in general are lacking. or GOOD sandwich places. is there even a real deli in raleigh (side topic)

Morrisville Deli or Peppers Sandwich Shop are the best two sandwich shops I've had in the Raleigh area. The are both on the corner of Davis Drive and Morrisville-Carpenter in Morrisville.

Both are <2 minutes from my house so I eat at one of those two places at least once a week.

Deli in Wake Forest that has amazing sandwiches. Everything about the sandwich is pretty good, but the best part is getting it on a ciabatta roll.

I agree that Ruckus makes a good sammich, I especially like their phillys.

Village Deli is solid. I had Peppers before and wasn't impressed. I'll have to try Morrisville Deli sometime, I drive past it all the time just haven't stopped in.

I normally try a reuben first when I eat at a new sammich spot, if you can make a good reuben you're good in my book. Jasons Deli makes a good reuben

Their sandwiches are always good, but they are indeed super overpriced. I almost never eat there because of that.

village deli, at least the CV location, is disgusting. i'd give them worst sub in raleigh.

and if you haven't eaten a subconscious sub (at least the deli ones, i've never tried the meatball...and i've heard to stay away from the pizza and pasta lol) then you are missing out. their bread is in fact pretty delicious.

don't hate. and it is ALWAYS crowded at lunch so...i don't know when you are driving by but it isn't at lunch time! i always call in so i don't have to wait in line. it is tres hot in there though. i wouldn't recommend dining in.

The reason you can't find sub place is because the profit margin on them sucks.

They are hard as hell to make. Everyone has their own customized sub that they like. If you put mayo on it, and the customer doesn't like mayo, you have to make it all over again...

It's a high error/low profit venture and this is why not many sub places exist.

it's a shame there are soooooooooo many pizza places and so few quality sandwich shops. it sounds like the profit margins may be higher at pizza places, but i spose there is also a factor of demand since errrbody eats pizza

I can guarantee you it's margin. It's the same reason you don't see hot dog shops flourishing. Everyone expects it to be cheap.

While hot dog are cheap, the profit just isn't enough to pay business expenses.

I used to go there pretty often and nom on their cubans, but the neighboring Big City Bagel and Cafe has taken over all my Boondini's business, and then some. Their cheesesteaks, chicken salad, and breakfast sandwiches are some of my norms

there used to be this place called fat phillys in cary, close to harrison. they would import ther bread from philly and it was hands downs the best one in wake county

That kills the whole fresh perspective, unless the geographical location of baking bread makes a greater difference on quality than time...

Company has a contract with Sysco and they tell new sub places to buy them market them as imported from Philadelphia

Customers eat it up though... I didn't go with it because I'd be ashamed to be like everyone else.

I buy my sub rolls from the bread and bagel place a few blocks away. They make their bread fresh everyday. It takes a load off my shoulders.

Location does make a big difference. Mineral content in water varies from location to location, this is why you can't get a pizza that can compare with that from ny. However, the cost to get fresh bread daily from that far away seems pointless.
