Definitely should have served some jail time for this. Nearly three times the speed limit

preferential treatment

Nevermind that if he didn't drive for Toyota there's no way he would have gotten his hands on an LFA

So only NASCAR Toyota drives can get an LFA? Dude is worth like $100 mil, he could probably get a hold of one, no matter how exclusive they are.

Would you be allowed to compete at Nascar events without a valid driver's license?

128 is nothing. Dude was probably in full control. Nothing careless or reckless about it.

you do not have to have a valid drivers license to compete in NASCAR. you have to have a separate license that is distributed by NASCAR.

^of course. but fuck, why is he immune to the rules the rest of society is forced to adhere to? i'll admit, i don't give a shit about NASCAR, but something like this needs to be addressed and handled immediately. seems like he got a pass because he's Kyle Busch.

seriously, NBA and NFL players fucking KILL people and get away with it. like, shoot and stab folks on purpose. Kyle Busch was SPEEDING. yeah. he was going really fast, but he didn't have a gun in the car, or drugs, and wasn't drunk.

that's why this story is not a story, and why it will get dealt with in no time flat. he'll get a slap on the wrist and that's it.

No NBA player has ever been convicted of shooting or stabbing someone on purpose. Charles Smith was convicted of vehicular homicide, but that's the only murder charge an NBA player has ever been found guilty of.

Similarly, only one NFL player (Robert Rozier) has ever been charged with a non-vehicular murder, and those murders were committed years after Rozier's career ended when he became involved with a cult.

So you can kindly keep your baseless racism to yourself.

Your racism comment is out of line. You can't just play the race card on anything.

It's not a big secret that the NFL and NBA have huge image problems. Did I miss the part where Rae Carruth ordered a hit on his girl and Ray Lewis was involved in a double murder? Jim Dunway killed his ex-wife and Tommy Kane killed his wife. And you're right, I guess I should limit my thoughts to only those who are actually in the league at the time, so Jayson Williams, O.J. Simpson, and Rozier don't even count. And you can't seriously believe that if someone isn't convicted they didn't commit the act. That's like saying that Kyle Busch wasn't speeding because he's going to get this knocked down to nothing.

And my mistake for lumping the NBA in with the NFL in terms of actual deaths. I guess I should have limited my comments about the NBA to assaults, drug trafficking, and the like.

The point is that in the world of professional sports and athletes receiving "special treatment," getting caught speeding, even if it was egregious, is not even a blip on the radar.

Actually, I'm pretty sure him being a famous NASCAR driver is the only reason this was a blip on the radar. When's the last time you saw a non-famous person in the news for a careless and reckless speeding ticket that did not involve an accident or DUI? If he had hit someone this would be a much bigger deal, since consequences are judge much harsher than actions (see Donte Stallworth).

Also not as an excuse, but I imagine NASCAR drivers have a heck of an adjustment driving casually on public roads. It has to be like Michael Jordan in his prime playing a pickup game with weekend warriors at the Y on 8 1/2 or 9 foot goals. Of course that doesn't stop Steve Smith.

This guy has access to just about any track he would want. There would be no problem getting that car somewhere safe that doesnt include public roads. He deserves some serious punishment for this, as apparently this isnt his first time doing something stupid like this and getting caught (which probably means he does it a lot).

appalling that he wasn't put in jail. absolutely obscene, and his pretentious statements are further proof of his complete disregard for the law and the community in which he was endangering.

So those weren't knife wounds on Nicole Simpson and Ron Goldmans neck? They were tire tracks?

^^^^i dont think Rae's charge was actual murder. it was "conspiracy to commit murder", and he wasn't the one who pulled the trigger. semantics...

that's got to be one of the dumbest things i've read in sports talk in a long time. and if that was ACTUALLY the case, then they shouldn't even have drivers licenses.

Mario Williams did this on 40 a couple years back

he just didn't get pulled

and assuming he knew the roads where he was at, how the hell did the cop even pull him over? By the time the cop had time to react to the fact that he clocked someone doing 128, that car would have already been 1/4 mile down the road....

Perhaps he unwittingly passed a trooper that was moving at highway speeds already and not stopped at the side of the road.

I didn't read the story, but was he actually pulled, or just cited later? The cop probably knew who was driving the yellow lexus lfa as it did 138 past him.

the cop was clocking at the corner of Perth Road and Honeysuckle Creek Loop. Perth is a long, straight, flat road through mooresville. Plenty of visibility.

Should he have been going that fast? No, but come on there are far more dangerous things on our highways than Kyle Busch.
