This is one of the most frightening shows on TV. I would lose my shit if I was behind one of these maniacs at the checkout counter.

It seems like there are three types of people on that show:- Hoarders who use half their home for storage of items they will never be able to use up. Like thousands of boxes of toothpaste. This is obviously disturbed behavior.- Philanthropists who get large quantities of items to give away. It seems a little amoral to me to game the system for free product that you never plan on using. Maybe not necessarily "wrong" or malicious, but something doesn't seem quite right about absorbing thousands of dollars of product and wasting hours of a supermarket's labor through a system designed to give Joe Schmo $0.55 off some cornbread. For instance one dude got the store to special order a few pallets of soda, got them for free, and then gives it away to a church. It's great that the church got a donation, but it doesn't seem right to exploit multiple entities to do it.- Regular family folk that keep a garage of inventory and use most of what they get. I think this describes most of the people in the lounge thread and it seems like a pretty cool venture to me.

Well the thing about this show is that its all about ratings. There is no store anywhere that will allow one person w/ 600 coupons to have a checkout session that lasts 1 or 2 hours. But these stores want to get people in the door and be like "oh, hey look what you can do with 300 coupons for pasta sauce" when they know their own coupon policy forbids more than 3 like coupons being used in the same transaction. But they let the people from the TLC show do it b/c it is some good publicity for them. I watch the show every week and I know some of the stores that they go to limit coupons but b/c its for tv, they want to appear to be "coupon friendly" just to get people in the door. When I talk to people about my coupon usage, they will always be like "oh, you should be on that Extreme Couponing show"...I will never be extreme like them. Their stockpile makes me crazy. But I will still watch this show b/c it makes me chuckle.
