So I would really like to have somewhere online to post some projects I have been a part of and some excel templates and models that I would like to share for use by others under a creative commons license. I'd like to be able to post some pdf's of some reports i've developed as an online portfolio of some of my work, maybe even post some of my credentials and work history. The problem is that I don't have any experience with website design, what are my best options for going about something like this?

any reason not to just get a wordpress, blogspot, tumblr, etc account and post all that stuff there?just cus it's a blog doesn't mean it has to be about your personal life, or even a regular or detailed discussion of what your projects are about. It's pretty typical in my experience to see small projects presented in this way, just as a means of getting them out there in a low barrier to entry sort of way[Edited on May 7, 2011 at 1:24 PM. I'm certainly open to any of those options if someone has a recommendation for any particular oneIf I want my own domain name how hard is it to do something where I purchase a cheap domain name and redirect to a blog? Can I do this seamlessly or would they just see the blogspot address as soon as they were redirected.

And I've looked around online for awhile before posting here and there is a lot of good advice online but it is geared towards design portfolios. Mine is more content driven but I do want to have something that is visually pleasing.

awesome, thanksnow as far as how i present the content, some of the reports are 20-50 page documents. Should I just present that as a link to an embedded pdf or just allow them to download the pdf?

embedding them just pisses me off. it's like a blank page for at least a minute. and i'm already going to save it.[Edited on May 7, 2011 at 5:50 PM. Reason : oh you said 50 pages. don't do it.]

how about this: i'll break it into sections for each page. I'll have a very brief writeup (maybe a shortened abstract) of what the project was then a jpeg of the coversheet for the writeup that they can download the file from. I'll also include similar links for any design documents.[Edited on May 7, 2011 at 6:42 PM. Reason : .]

I registered another domain this morning with godaddy and had the site up in under 30 mins. I have 3 domains right now and have had a good experience with their services thus far.
