His pro-military impartiality is very apparent now, and it impedes constructive discussion. I ask that he be removed as moderator, or at least recuse himself from locking threads that make him angry if he can't keep a level head. Thank you.

I sent a pm to the soap box mods notifying them of this situation.I'm AstralAdvent and i approved this message.
5/4/2011 12:09:21 PM
Yeah, that'll happen.
5/4/2011 1:14:04 PM
TWW pro-tip : if a mod locks a thread, it is highly within your interest to PM that mod and make an argument for why your thread should be allowed before making an exact duplicate

Request that smc should be removed as a TWW userHis anti-logic stupidity is very apparent now, and it impedes constructive discussion. I ask that he be removed as a user, or at least recuse himself from posting at all. Thank you.

I would like my thread unlocked, please. It was well-constructed and perfectly serious. theDuke866 has no right to decide what does not merit discussion.http://thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=612528[Edited on May 5, 2011 at 11:01 AM. Reason : .]
5/5/2011 11:00:54 AM
actually, theDuke866 does in fact have some right to decide what merits discussion. that's precisely what moderators are foryou also have some right to appeal, as you have done. i personally think it's a stupid thread that will reveal no new information, will change nobody's mind on the issue, and will do nothing but incite more pointless arguing, eye rolling and name calling in the soap box and I have no problem with the thread having been locked. however, if 5-10 people will sign their name to this thread that they do in fact have an interest in discussing this conspiracy theory, i will consider unlocking it.

5/5/2011 12:04:00 PM
I think AdultSwim's conspiracy theory is ill-informed, but I'm OK with discussing it. Thank god SMC got the boot. Worst poster I've seen in the Soap Box in a long time.
5/5/2011 12:06:03 PM
I'm not a 9-11 truther, and I never have been. However, in light of recent events, I am highly skeptical of the narrative being provided by the government on Osama Bin Laden. I don't think it's unreasonable, and the more people I'm talking to about it, the more people are thinking, "yeah, something doesn't seem quite right here." People that never buy into conspiracy theories or anything of the like.If you actually read my posts, I'm not someone to make unsubstantiated claims, and I'm not doing that here, either. I'm calling into question some of the basic assumptions that have been held by most Americans, and I don't see anything wrong with that. I do see something wrong with intentionally shutting down discussion because it doesn't jive with someone's nationalist, interventionist sensibilities.

The soap box is dead anyways, and has been for awhile. I thought the only reason it was still around was so that shitty political threads wouldn't overrun chit chat.
5/5/2011 12:17:23 PM
5/5/2011 12:51:08 PM
arent there plenty of 9/11 conspiracy theory threads already? i figure if people wanted to discuss it, some of the threads created nearly 10 years ago would still be active. i would really hope any 9/11 conspiracy theorists have long held the conspiracy ideas since shortly after 9/11, and this isnt some new revelation just because we killed UBL?
5/5/2011 12:53:51 PM
^No one in my thread said anything about government attacking the WTC, if that's what you're implying. I don't want to bump a 5-10 year old thread with a different premise that is probably full of out-dated information.
5/5/2011 12:58:04 PM
i think the discussion in that thread was going well, especially regarding the timeline concerning the videos and cheney's interview.i vote that it be unlocked.thanks.

"The civilized man has a moral obligation to be skeptical, to demand the credentials of all statements that claim to be facts."- Bergen EvansI think open questioning of official stories is healthy and should be encouraged. I would like to see the thread unlocked.
5/5/2011 4:01:53 PM
So far 6 people (7 including myself). Can we have our thread back?
5/5/2011 4:04:18 PM
interested
5/5/2011 4:38:36 PM
So qntmfred and theDuke866 are ignoring my requests, even after 7 other people have voiced support in this thread. Just wanted to let everyone know why it's still locked.Regretting paying for premium now [Edited on May 5, 2011 at 10:09 PM. Reason : .]
5/5/2011 10:03:45 PM
I'm sorry, but TWW is not a democracy.
5/5/2011 10:14:32 PM
You would think that someone who voluntarily helps support the site would be allowed to discuss a legitimate topic without a moderator locking it due to differences of opinion. But that's cool.
5/5/2011 10:26:19 PM
5/5/2011 10:32:30 PM
Then why was it locked? I've been given no explanation. I can only assume that the duke thought it was a stupid thread, even though there were several people having a legitimate conversation. It seems like he piggy-backed off of locking smc's threads, without even reading mine.[Edited on May 5, 2011 at 10:36 PM. Reason : .]

theDuke is an effective moderator. smc is an atrocious poster who makes shit thread after shit thread and detracts from discussion to a far greater extent than he contributes to it.I had not previously known adultswim to be a fucking nutjob, but clearly I do now. I probably would have voted against unlocking his shitty thread but overall I'm ambivalent.[Edited on May 6, 2011 at 4:05 PM. Reason : also, he should be punished for his insolence in that tantrum earlier]
5/6/2011 4:05:20 PM
When have I ever been unreasonable in my arguments? People seem to think I'm coming to definite conclusions here, which I'm not. A lot of people in the world are convinced that there is something weird about the official 9/11 story, and I've just decided to investigate those claims in an un-biased manner rather than brush them off as I have in the past.
5/6/2011 4:20:30 PM
I just saw this thread. You guys are fucking idiots.
5/6/2011 6:21:25 PM
5/6/2011 6:24:22 PM
No, I mean the threads that I skip over for a while based on my assumption from the title that it's going to suck, and then finally clicking on it when there are 8 pages just to see what everyone's talking about. The first few pages are indeed completely worthless, but then there will be 5 pages of solid discussion. That doesn't mean it shouldn't have been shitcanned on page 1 or 2.In this case, there was only a page when I locked it, and half of that wasn't really redeeming.
5/6/2011 6:39:23 PM
theDuke866 credibility +1

this 9/11 conspiracy thread needs to get locked. we have already had these discussions and debates and every point has already been refuted. salisburyboy was one of the worst things to happen to the soap box and the shit he brought with him drove off many quality posters. we don't need that again. hooksaw is gone, and except for a little trolling the soap box has been pretty decent lately. i'm okay with discussion on things that i think are ridiculous or that i disagree with, but that's not the case here. we have already had this conversation for pages and pages and pages and bringing back more shit about it is only going to shit on the soap box.
5/7/2011 12:33:21 PM
the "bin laden dead???" thread in Chit Chat is by far the most grounded
5/7/2011 2:15:31 PM
+1 to theDuke for this:
5/7/2011 2:43:24 PM
The people who have posted in support of locking this discussion have made no attempt to read the post or respond to any of the questions d357r0y3r or I have had. They seem to assume that we already have a narrative in our minds. This is not the case. We are simply asking for a legitimate discussions with people about the secrecy surrounding the events. It's speculation in the sense of "Contemplation or consideration of a subject; meditation", not "A conclusion, opinion, or theory reached by conjecture."I have not been a part of any discussion with salisburyboy, but judging from copy-paste from rbrthwrd in the soap box thread, we have entirely different views surrounding the events, and it's not fair to assume that I hold the same views as every crackpot conspiracy theorist, just because I'm asking questions about events that do not make sense to me.
