Is it best practice to basically copy the topic/question you are answering.

Sorry this is my first and last history class I have.

I don't remember my english classes...being they were 5-6 years ago.

No. It should be an introduction to what your paper is about.

There's no point in copying and pasting the prompt. Your teacher already knows what the prompt is.

What am I reading and why should I care?

If those 2 questions are left unanswered in the first paragraph, you need to revise it.

have you developed a thesis statement from the prompt? you need to start with your thesis statement.
