to me, maher is the liberal version of all the retarded conservative talking heads, to me

except nobody calls him out about it like they do beck, o'reilly etc. partially because nobody could be as retarded as those two guys and partially because maher is actually a little funny.

still, I don't really like the guy or his radicalism. plus, he always tries to talk over people that are 8 million times smarter and/or cooler than him, like cornel west

And instead of Maher being on the largest new channel during primetime, he’s on a for-pay network at 10PM.

And maher legitimately has real conservatives on his show and lets them speak.

^bullshit

Their are lots of far left moonbats that are mirror opposites of Beck/Hannity/O'Reilly

But Maher does occasionally have conservative guests in his interview segments before the panel, but when he gets a conservative on his panel outside of Andrew Sullivan he typically mocks and belittles them. Typically he is only nice to Sullivan and PJ O'Rourke (though he is a Libertarian not a Republican)

I wouldn't pay to see him because since he is in the South all he is going to do is talk about the fact that Southerners are dumb, and will bash Christianity since we are in the bible belt, mind you to the cheers of a majority of his audience who hold similar beliefs (or lack of beliefs) to his.

Have I watched it? Yes. I watched Politically Incorrect as well.

Not a lot though, because I tend to not fill my TV viewing schedule with shit that pisses me off (that's counterintuitive, is it not? I'm sure you don't watch O'Reilly nightly).

I stand by my words. He's a snarky motherfucker.

Some of you are way off base.

I've watched Beck/O'Reilly/Hannity nightly, and Bill Maher is not the liberal version of them.

If anyone, I would say that he's the liberal version of Ann Coulter; they both derive smug satisfaction from themselves, but even that comparison isn't exactly apt. Dennis Miller seems like another adequate comparison.

And how radical do you have to be to find Maher radical? Unless "radical" was the incorrect term and you were referencing his absolutist attitude toward any given subject matter.

I said radical, I meant radical. I stand by it. And I am neither conservative nor liberal, so your assumption that I must be an extreme conservative to view Maher as radical is waaaaay the fuck off.

the ending of Religious was one of the dumbest things I've ever seen

dude spends a whole movie bitching about religion and preachy people and then finishes the movie with a 5 minute preachy monologue

that said, I like Real Time. but that movie was a big fail, even though most of it was funny.

I never suggested that you are radically conservative. Maybe you're radically moderate. Maybe you're not, but you think he's radically moderate. I dunno.

I'm curious to know why you would label him a "radical"; the only instances I can think of that even remotely resemble radicalism are those absolute positions he takes with regard to religion.

Lots of people who have never watched Real Time ITT

I saw him Feb 2010 in Raleigh. He brought up the topic of playing in the south about once or twice, usually not in a mocking manner. In fact he plays many small towns and southern locations because he is aware that there are people on the left in these areas that get overlooked by other acts.

I've watched his show many times, outside of the Daily Show it is one of the few places where I feel like you can get real opinion on what is going on in the world. Yes Maher is mostly left wing but he does have many right wing panelists on his show and, while mocking them at times, does give them much more time to add their opinion (and legitimately listens) than you'll ever see on Fox News.

So let's wrap things up:

People on the right: he's a radical, he's not funny, he's a douche

People on the left: he's not radical, he's funny, he's sometimes a douche, but at least he's not fox news.

Just looked on ticketmaster, and about half of the seats are still yet to be sold.

I saw him last time (when he filmed it live for HBO) since I got tickets for christmas, but no way in hell I'm shelling out $70+.

Also, he has gotten remarkably more annoying this season. He also stopped even bothering to pretend that he is even remotely libertarian leaning.

ticket prices are absurd. when even the student tickets are $35+ you know it's a joke.

i wonder if they'll even have it now. going to take a pretty herculean effort to have that part of town ready to go in 4 days.

I am liberal as fuck and i hate this guy. That documentary he did on religion was pretty good though, but that's just because i have a strong distaste for anyone who doesn't question their own beliefs. He did a good job in that documentary showing people who take their own religion with various servings of salt. The guy he spoke to in the vatican was fucking awesome

I'm AstralAdvent and i approved this message.

He's an arrogant douche most of the time, and his show might as well be called "Assholes Talking Over Each Other" I still wouldn't call him the Beck or Limbaugh of the left.

I watch Real Time when I see it on. Occasionally he makes a good point (by him, I mean his panelists), but he is a big ego-maniacal douche for the most part. He feeds off the cheers from his mindless, probably high, audience, then gets all uppity when an opposing viewpoint from one of his panelists is made.

A chuckle here and there, but overall, he is lacking.
