Thinking about buying an m35a2. Anybody know a good place to get one? I'm currently in Charleston, SC but will drive to get one in good shape. I'm trying to find one that is already in a drivable condition so govliquidation.com kind of scares me.

People on nc4x4.com sell them from time to time. I think my favorite was about a year ago...Guy down in Wilmington had a really nice one that had been shortened and painted black. Looked great and I'm sure it was much easier to drive.Craigslist as well.

http://www.whiteowl.com has a reverse auction from time to time. Starts at $3000 and goes down $100 a week until it sells. The trucks are a little rougher than normal, but still run/drive just fine.A guy in North West Virginia had several M35A2's for sale at one point in time. $2500 for a normal one, $500 more for a whistler turbo, $500 more for a winch.

XMLs and XZLs are bitchen tires... i think it would be cool 6x6 though....

Yeah I'm kind of torn honestly, I like things about both. If I love it 6x6 I'll probably just clean it up nice like in the picture I posted and leave the drivetrain/length.

my parents live across the street from the CMVPA clubhouse...they are always buying and selling, and it's got me interested too.

i've played with the idea of buying one of these before, too. Check Craigslist, too--you'll see them on there relatively routinely. Search for "M35" or "Deuce".

Caught the end of an XTREME 4x4 episode this weekend where I think they bobbed one of these, put an airbag suspension on it, and built a new bed on the back. I think they were going to use it to haul a Samurai Buggy. pretty cool

The bobbed/super single converted one is still around and still for sale. It belongs to a neighbor down the road. It is NICE, completely repainted inside and out with all new decals. It will do about 65 with the big tires.
