While I am sure the rate of people having sex is much lower at BYU than at most schools, I am sure there are tons of people banging each other. That is a really good question though.... who in their right mind would tell on a star of the basketball team?
3/3/2011 7:38:59 AM
Jimmer still stylin' tho...
3/3/2011 7:39:58 AM
Must have been terrible sex for her to tell on him.
3/3/2011 7:44:01 AM
^^^^I thought I read he came forward on his own or something?
3/3/2011 7:48:35 AM
If a player is booted from school, does the one-year sit out rule still apply?Maybe it was his quickest (and most pleasurable) ticket out of town? And it's one of the circumstances where it makes the school look worse than the player.[Edited on March 3, 2011 at 7:51 AM. Reason : not the right word]

BYU's season is over, stinks that something this minor is ruining a great run they were having.Yeah, I figured he got snitched on, wouldn't make sense to confess to it, especially not until after the season, haha.[Edited on March 3, 2011 at 8:13 AM. Reason : Whoops. Saw 1-9 and didn't see 33 points.]

Never underestimate the power of guilt. I'd say odds are even he gave himself away in a conference with an authority figure. Now why he should feel guilty over having sex.....

You guys are missing the point here....
3/3/2011 9:33:50 AM
Whether you like the principles or not, everyone that attends the university, mormon or not, knows there is an honor code, what's in the honor code, and what happens if you break it.And if you're mormon, like 90+% of BYU students and athletes are, the honor code is nothing new.[Edited on March 3, 2011 at 9:40 AM. CJL would've been suspended over, and over, and over

I guess I am still missing the point even after reading your posts. Are you pointing out that Mormons are kinda weird? Yeah, you're pretty spot on there. But on the same token, all the Mormons I know are genuinely good people who do things that are often really unselfish. It's one thing that is ingrained in their religion. Case in point, I posted on my FaceBook a couple weeks ago, asking if anyone knew anything about the computers at my local library. I needed an add-on that Microsoft Excel 97 didn't support, and I figured I'd just drive to the library and use their software (I live in a tiny village in New York). A guy that I haven't seen in almost 5 years, and who I really didn't know "real" well pm-ed me and offered to send me a copy of Office 2000. I assumed it would be a bootlegged copy, but he sent me the original disc as well as the packaging with the registration key.Now I know I am probably going to get some haters saying "That's not a big deal," or "That has nothing to do with his religion," or something to that effect. But honestly, for someone to specifically go out of his way to mail me an original copy of Microsoft Office meant quite a lot to me. Obviously all Mormons aren't like this, but I do know quite a few, and for those who actually follow the religion, my experiences have all been positive. So yeah, do I think their rules of no caffeine, alcohol, or premarital sex are silly, outdated, and based on an absolutely crazy system of beliefs? YES. But do I have immense respect for them and the fact that they actually stand up for their beliefs and their honor code? Also YES.

I mean all the other MWC schools should just send some super hot bitches over there who are DTF and get all their best players booted outta school. Let's face it what 18-21 year old dude, if presented with a super hot girl who has her hands down his pants, is gonna say no?

if i were dave rose, i'd quit at the end of the season.that's assuming that dave rose is not a mormon and is not a fan of his legitimate shot at winning a national title being ruined by his own school.
3/3/2011 10:07:10 AM
Im sure that Jimmer Fredette is getting some on the side too.I just dont see how they can call out one guy for sex and act like he is the only one doing it.
3/3/2011 10:07:40 AM
women!
3/3/2011 10:08:49 AM
Are there some that break the honor code? Sure, anyone can fall to temptation, but if you're caught, or admit it, you know the consequences. I applaud his honesty and integrity---he knew what was going to happen when he came forward. But really guys most of them are not having sex. As mormons, we're raised that way, so like I said, this honor code is nothing new.
3/3/2011 10:11:59 AM
I have friends who went to liberty and the rules aren't nearly that bad.
3/3/2011 10:12:47 AM
to be a Mormon in the 21st century you have to be borderline retardedthough I guess the same could apply to all religions
3/3/2011 10:19:25 AM
If I were Dave Rose, I would quit and go coach a school with a less stringent moral code.... like NCState, for instance.

In terms of religion. How does this help the kid? Kicking him out for doing something wrong is not the Jesus like thing to do. Jesus associated with sinners to try and change them.
3/3/2011 11:25:21 AM
hopefully potential recruits will think twice before accepting a scholarship from a cult college. To me, BYU is like Bob Jones university, but with better sports.
3/3/2011 11:29:36 AM
In terms of their religious culture, the Mormons have a lot in common with the Jews. They are a tight nit group that tends to marry and hire within and have an above average income/ wealth. However, Jews are much more accepting of other cultures and people (i.e. gays and blacks) than the Mormons.[Edited on March 3, 2011 at 11:32 AM. ^^^^I agree with that as well, as much as I agree with the retarded rules. If you accept a scholarship there, you agree to abide by their rules. Now, should there be an institutional rejection by the MWC or NCAA of a school that operates on archaic rules that are well beyond mores at other colleges? I would say yes. But as of today there isn't, so can't really fault BYU for being consistent with their own twisted sense of integrity.[Edited on March 3, 2011 at 12:36 PM. Reason : .]

^^ sure they can, but a conference or even the NCAA can similarly tell BYU that they don't want to play ball with them because we don't like the way you treat your students. I disagree that no one's being harmed. Who wants their name in the national media for being kicked out of school? There's harm there.
3/3/2011 1:02:55 PM
there's not really any harm. if anything, i would assume plenty of mormons (and others) are proud of BYU for sticking to their honor code and not devaluing it for the sake of athletic success
3/3/2011 1:06:23 PM
I think the real question is how in the heck has BYU remained somewhat notable in sports all these years...why would any non-mormon athlete even think of going there?
3/3/2011 1:10:56 PM
yeah, there's no shortage of samoans rolling through their football program
