So my car needs new front tires, again (gotta get that alignment issue straightened out). My question to you is this--stock tires are BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDWS. Lowest price I've found for them is $171/tire at Merchant's, which is a bit since the ones I got 2 sets ago were less than $100 per. I can replace with Pirelli P-Zero Nero for about $50 less ($148/tire). Any reason not to go this route? Other bright ideas for a good tire for less than $150/pop? Trying to stay with UHP all-season since that's what the stockers were classified as.

Check out the prices at Discount Tire if you have one near you. They are cheaper there from what I have seen in Charlotte.

I know they are a crappy brand, but I have had some Nankang NS2 on my car and they are actually somewhat ok for a super cheap tire.

I have gone through about 8 sets of KDW2s (flame pattern) and they are currently what is on the GTI currently. I think they are great tires, though I'm sure there are some that are equally as good or better.

I love my Pirelli PZero Nero's ... have had them for 3 years (~30,000+ miles). They are ready to be replaced so I'm debating if I want to go with those again or try out some Continental DSW's. I've read good reviews on the DSW's as well and they're slightly cheaper than the Pirelli's.

But, if you do decide to go with the PZero Nero's, you won't be disappointed. Good tread wear, awesome dry handling (for an A/S tire), awesome wet handling (always in the far right fast lane when it rains), road noise will not be a problem until you reach the end of it's life. You can't go wrong with it.

$150/tire isn't very expensive, and KDWs/KDW2s aren't really THAT aggressive of a tire, but if it was my car, I'd put something a little less performance-oriented on there. I mean, there are still 2-3 rungs up the performance ladder to go from that class of tire, but I don't really see the point in even putting those on a Marauder. I'd much rather have something longer lasting and more of an "all-around" type tire.

I used to run KDW2s on my supercharged S2000. I'd get about 10k miles per set out of them (which is more than I get out of Star-Specs or NT05s on my other S2000 or 'Vette, respectively ). KDW2s are a good bang-for-the-buck tire for a street-driven sports (or sporty) car when that ultimate, last-2% type of performance isn't necessary: compound isn't TOO soft, reasonably quiet, still gets acceptable wet traction. There's just no need for that type of tire on a Marauder, though.

See, the KDW2 and the KDWS are actually rather different animals. The KDW2 is the "flame pattern" deal and the KDWS is a good bit less aggressive/longer lasting. But in any case, I just looked on tire rack and discount tire and expanded my search criteria, and I still can't do any better pricewise than the P-Zero (except for a Falken tire with a considerably lesser treadwear rating).

For a few more bucks I could get something like the Kumho Ecsta LX, I suppose, which has a ridiculously high treadwear rating. That could be an option. Because I guess you're right, the car doesn't really need that much tire. It's not like I drive it very hard anyway.

How much would you guys offer a guy for a set of c5 z06 replica wheels with tires mounted? The wheels are probably $550 or so new; two of them have very slight rash. The tires are mismatched (f/r) pilot sports and Goodyear supercars, prob 2/3 tread or a little more.

^got V12s on 335. they handle good in wet and dry with relatively stiff side wall, but tires are wearing out fast. could be the fact the damn car weighs 3600lb+

I just wouldn't buy replica wheels, but that's me -I've had... experiences-. You have no problem disagreeing w/me on helmet choices either, so go for it if you want to.

As for the tires, those should be a nice upgrade, the previous Kumhos I don't think have a very high temperature range. 3800# is pretty impressive though, nice going Volvo!
