The hinges on my laptop have broken. If I open the laptop & leave the screen alone, then it will fall flat

Seems like it should be a pretty simple fix, but it's beyond my capabilities. Not really sure who to contact to try to fix it (don't want to send it away to Dell if possible)

Any suggestions?

Check for a recall - several Dell models have had free replacement from known problems with their hinges.

what model and how old? And Dell service should be able to do a house call if under warranty.

No luck on the recall that I could see

Dell Inspiron 1520. Want to say about 2-2.5 years old, not under warranty

After scrouning around google, there are some sites/forums suggesting how to change the hinges, back cover, or rig it iwth a lid support (lid support looks trashy to me though). Looking like I only need to get new hinges (like $10-$15 on ebay) but not overly confident in my taking apart half the laptop to change the hinges. So if anyone is more mechanically inclined or experienced in something of the sort, I'm certainly willing to pay for some assistance here

The key is to make note of where all of the screws go.
