I've had my own health insurance for the past 2 years because I wasn't covered under my employer's plan, that has now changed. The main issue is that my employer's plan doesn't cover one of my prescriptions and it is pretty expensive if I bought it without insurance. I want to cancel my personal plan since its about 200 bucks a month less than my employer's plan and I'm wondering, is there a plan or something that covers just prescriptions?

what prescription doesn't the employer plan cover? did you check for a patient assistance program for that particular drug?

^that could be a tricky question (what if its for an ailment you dont want made public)i have no idea though. i have a whole semester about this stuff next year but from my understanding right now, there are certain plans that will cover prescriptions.what they are and the price-i'm not sure. (i'm sorry i know this isnt much help :/)

PM if you must, but without knowing the actual medication, I cannot help. There are many financial assistance programs, but without knowing the specific drug, I don't know where to point you.

thats what went through my head at first (not thinking that you had hiv or anything!!!.... but hiv meds can be PRICEY!)[Edited on January 23, 2011 at 1:33 PM. Reason : iirc 1 month of trizivir is around 900-1200 !]

Have you tried seeing if you can order it off the internet? My fiance does that currently for his asthma medication and it's still cheaper than what my dad days through his insurance for the same meds. Kind of sad

I'm guessing there's no generic equivalent?
