Just a basic home setup. Not worried about bridging, etc. Only think I'd use it for is my laptop and xbox online. I've heard Linksys is the best bet for the money...any truth to that? I'd like to spend no more than 50 dollar bucks. Thanks.

Are you running anything wired? If so you may want one with gigabit ethernet ports.Other than that it's down to range, speed, and frequency band.If you end up with a Linksys, Buffalo, Netgear, TrendNET, D-Link, or ASUS you're probably going to be just fine. You may even want to snag one off craigslist if you're just using it for the internet. A wireless G with internal antennae will suffice nicely. Just run a full reset once you get it home.http://digitaletc.com/e2000-advanced-dual-band-wireless-n-router-refurbished.html (coupon code E2000-22OFF)or http://www.buy.com/prod/belkin-n-wireless-router/q/loc/101/209337174.htmlorhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833166044[Edited on January 15, 2011 at 12:26 PM. I'm devoted to Linksys. I've had a Linksys (WRT54GS) for at least 6-7 years and have NEVER had a problem with it. If I ever have a problem with it (knock on wood that isn't soon), I would buy another linksys product in a heartbeat.

Thanks for the suggestions. I don't plan on having anything hard wired at this point.

do you just need wired? or do you also want wireless? how many ports?most routers will do gigabit, but since the internet isnt that fast it's not as inspiring as many would believe....
