If you care to venture over to Cary, check out Hotpoint on Buck Jones Road. Their food is awesome, and I've heard good things about their Cuban.

jax's was pretty goodbetter than mitch's was (mitch's sammichs are typically too dry for me though), but that is no longer an option. I haven't tried it anywhere else. I am interested in where this thread might go though!

1/13/2011 12:00:43 AM
the Raleigh Times makes a damn good cuban sandwich.I'd say cuban revolution in durham is even better.
1/13/2011 12:03:15 AM
The shredded lettuce they use at Boondini's is fucking amazing. You wouldn't think lettuce could be notable, but it fucking is.
1/13/2011 12:04:18 AM
I have a serious problem not ordering the nachos and burger at the Times but I'm headed there next week so I'm gonna branch out a bit and try the Cuban.
1/13/2011 12:05:19 AM

1/13/2011 12:37:56 AM
Not Raleigh, but I've had one at...Lina's Cafe and Catering in RTP (Durham) off of Miami http://www.linascafeandcatering.com/I had a good one at Fowler's Market in downtown Durham, but I think that place closed
1/13/2011 1:04:59 AM
I hear the cuban at Havana Grill in Cary is pretty good, haven't tried it myself though.

1/13/2011 9:26:42 AM
tried the cuban at the times
1/19/2011 8:54:51 AM
I thought cubans were supposed to have pressed flat bread... how can they have too much bread if that is the case? (admittedly, I've only had nachos and other app's there so I don't know how they do their sammiches)
1/19/2011 9:06:44 AM
it was pressed...but there was still a bunch of bread (imo)
1/19/2011 9:22:01 AM
well that's no bueno...
1/19/2011 9:23:52 AM
Haven't had it at many places but I do like the ones at Mitch'sThere is a new joint opening in downtown Durham called Old Havana Sandwich Shop that is supposed to specialize in Cuban Sandwiches. Opens tomorrow, according to their Twitter feed--hoping to try it out in the next couple of weekends.
1/19/2011 10:42:13 AM
any new updates on the Raleigh scene? I haven't had mitches cuban in a few years, so i'll probably be hitting that up soon.
8/10/2011 3:13:57 PM
8/10/2011 3:15:20 PM
Old Havana Cafe in downtown Durham has the most AMAZING Cuban. It's pretty much their entire menu. I know it's Durham but it's worth the drive.
8/10/2011 3:15:58 PM
Yeah, my coworker from Miami is all about that place.
8/10/2011 3:17:19 PM
I tried to go there today for lunch but there was no parking and I was in a hurry. My only complaint about that place is the parking situation blows during work hours.
8/10/2011 3:17:56 PM
We should pool together our votes for different categories and print out some winner's certificates. Wonder if we could get the restaurants to put them on their wall.
8/10/2011 3:18:35 PM
This thread is relevant to my interests
8/10/2011 3:21:52 PM
^^ That would be hilarious if they did.
8/10/2011 3:22:55 PM
8/10/2011 4:31:03 PM
I concur on Havana Grill.]
8/10/2011 4:32:04 PM
while i applaud the idea, it wouldn't take but 30 seconds on this site for restaurants to not want to post anything with our name on it
8/10/2011 4:41:05 PM
I still haven't managed to get to Old Havana Sandwich shop, and I still need to rectify that situation.
8/10/2011 5:49:49 PM
^^With the comments in the best burrito thread, it would be kinda ironic to roll into Carrburritos and see a plaque voting anything in Chapel Hill-Carrboro as the best from a website associated with NCSU. Except this:Best Douchebag Pretentious Restaurant in the Triangle:Top of the Hill
