I have a 1967 mustang with a 302 in it.I need a fuel pump, however, not just the run of the mill mechanical. The piece on the inside of the cam is broken so Im going to need a blockoff plate and run an external pump. The problem is that I dont want one I will have to drop down and mount in or on the fuel tank. In addition, I want one that if the fuel gets up to a certain threshold of pressure it will shut off so it doesnt just pump and pump fuel in. I dont want to have a separate switch and want one that will run off the ignition system when I turn the key to the on position.any ideas? obviously the less money the better. thanks guys.

If it is a stock or near stock engine then just get one of the cheap o universal electrics from advance. I think they're Mr. Gasket branded, roughly 45 bucks. Create a dedicated circuit for it and wire in a relay triggered off a switched power source. I've used a few of these through the years and they have served the purpose.

its not near stock at all...its practically a hot rod.

You can wire the one i posted anyway you want to, doesn't have to be in the tank and has a fuel pressure regulator and is even made specifically for carbureted engines... <-- WIN![Edited on January 4, 2011 at 7:14 PM. Reason : http://www.holley.com/12-802-1.asp direct link]

Yeah I got to looking at that one...Advanced has it and is offering 15% off through JAn 14th on orders over 100 bucks.would I need to get it for a particular car or just the regular old 5.0L 302 version would work?

No, you just need to guarantee 4-6 psi to the carb. If you don't want to spring for the high dolla Holley one, get you a Carter or a Purolator. These pumps are internally sprung to deliver the correct pressure range, and you really don't need a regulator. They will run continuously, and there's no harm in it at all. Mayhap you tell me what kind of carb you're running. If you're running a regular Edelbrock 650 or a Holley 0-1850, then you don't need some high dolla pump pushing a bajillion gallons an hour. It's just not necessary. You can get a universal...you don't need one application specific.[Edited on January 4, 2011 at 10:13 PM. Reason : Universal.]

That's nothing more than a dressed up, improved version of the 0-1850 vacuum secondary carb. Not a real drinker.Go with this:http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CRT-P4070/That's really all you need, and likely more than what you need. Do you get into it much?

Order it from Summit, or I'm betting you can get it at Loop Road Auto Parts. As Carter is a Federal Mogul product, Carquest might be able to get it. You can get this one at NAPA:http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Detail.aspx?R=AFPE8257_0258224089
