Old thread was dead. This show premieres a week from tonight.Official Trailer:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PajqY0VgYiUI'm sure we're all very wary of NBC superhero shows, but it might be worth a shot.

I'll give this a shot
1/2/2011 10:16:40 PM
I will also be checking this out, but the early word is that it isn't very good. None of the people who ran Heroes into the ground are involved in this, so at least it's got that going for it. [Edited on January 2, 2011 at 10:24 PM. Reason : .]
1/2/2011 10:23:14 PM
I am going to try and give it a shot.... III
1/2/2011 10:27:49 PM
we get enough superhero stuff in moviesI think I'll pass on this one
1/2/2011 10:39:33 PM
I've always felt that the long-form narrative afforded by a TV series is well suited to the superhero genre, but the execution of such shows has been almost universally terrible.
1/2/2011 10:56:16 PM
I'm looking forward to this.
1/3/2011 1:10:07 AM
This will last a max of 2 seasons
1/3/2011 1:22:37 AM
How many good live action superhero TV shows have their been? Smallville (I've never watched because I'm not a big fan of Superman but isn't it well received) and what elseI agree in theory the format should provide a better opportunity but with comic book movies coming out in pre-planned trilogies to start with, it's not as big a difference[Edited on January 3, 2011 at 7:39 AM. whenever i see a commercial for this, i think of nightmanPLAY THAT SAX, NIGHTMAN
1/3/2011 9:45:28 AM
i'd say buffy & angel count as good superhero shows. heroes s1 was good as well (but the rest of the seasons managed to undo everything good s1 did)
1/3/2011 9:51:26 AM
The first few seasons of Smallville were really good but it jumped the shark years ago.I seem to remember the old school Incredible Hulk was awesome but then again I was like 5 yrs old at the time so yeah.As was pointed out, the first season of Heroes was quite good.Other than that the only superhero shows that come to mind are cartoons. It might be good that this is a completely new hero that doesn't have decades of comic books to draw from.
1/3/2011 9:56:10 AM
Smallville was good, got shitty, but turned good again.Lois and Clark lasted I think 3-4 seasons?Dark Angel...2 seasonsBuffy 7, Angel 5It's just easier to do in comic form
1/3/2011 10:47:20 AM
btw Summer Glau is the only reason I'm giving this a shot
1/3/2011 12:11:47 PM
Oh hey, another show for Summer Glau to be lifeless on.Glad she's still getting work.
1/3/2011 12:36:27 PM
so this guy is more like batman and less like superman
1/3/2011 1:02:46 PM
This looks like it'll be at best mediocre for a couple episodes, and will then promptly and violently suck ass.

dos masLois & Clark (embedding disabled)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1ZVRm1KcZYbut yeah... generally the camp factor gets turned up on superhero tv vs the movie houses[Edited on January 3, 2011 at 9:25 PM. Reason : +]
1/3/2011 9:16:50 PM
just thought of another one
1/5/2011 2:23:24 PM
Did you think all of those were good?
1/5/2011 2:25:44 PM
no i'm just listing them so if anyone's happened to watch them, they can jump inbut i do think that 1950s superman, 1960s batman, hulk, 6 million dollar man, wonder woman, zorro and the flash were all fine shows[Edited on January 5, 2011 at 2:41 PM. Reason : +]
1/5/2011 2:38:25 PM
ahI don't watch a lot of old stuff so I had no idea. Not much to choose from in the last 20 years though. I vaguely remember Lois & Clark but I can't say I've seen enough of it to accurately judge. I remember Dean Cain more for being in those MTV Rock N Jock games
1/5/2011 3:01:20 PM
fucking marko, i can't believe you made me remember nightman [Edited on January 5, 2011 at 4:13 PM. Reason : just for that i'll make you remember M.A.N.T.I.S.]
1/5/2011 4:11:18 PM
i loved m.a.n.t.i.s and almost mentioned it yesterday. (my love for it might have been directly related to my age though)you can also add power rangers, vr troopers, super human samurai syber squad, and tattooed teenage alien fighters from beverly hills although those are all kids shows and some are way more terrible than others.
1/6/2011 12:29:38 AM
I wish they would stop with the commercials for this, it looks terrible
1/6/2011 2:20:01 AM
I'm probably the only person that remembers watching this show:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQb1ZD9W8_cThey were trying to cash in on the popularity of a certain movie. Two guesses, and nope - it wasn't Legacy.Ha. Street Hawk, almost forgot about that one.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCItnKrXvMM[Edited on January 6, 2011 at 7:26 AM. Reason : -]

1/6/2011 5:00:40 PM
Is it possible for this show to be any good?
1/6/2011 9:09:39 PM
This does not look good.
1/6/2011 9:15:47 PM
i'll say that Phantom roboot that syfy did was better than expectedmaybe this will be too?:/
1/6/2011 9:25:35 PM
I just recently began seeing ads for this show.
1/9/2011 5:19:16 PM
it's an interesting premise...but so far, all the guy's good at is getting his ass kicked.
1/9/2011 10:10:19 PM
I agree interesting premise, and it wasn't nearly as bad as it could be. Should be interesting to see if this survives two more weeks.
1/9/2011 11:47:08 PM
I think it is moving way too fast. It went from regular cop to fugitive to hero-in-training to hero way too quickly. It's like if Batman took a week to learn how to be badass. There are lots of plot holes too... I'm not sure how wearing a cape enabled him to learn how to catch knives in the air or how the head carny found his secret layer. And I'm pretty sure that the second the bad guy had him framed, his security card to the bank vaults would have been disabled... even though they weren't, they'd be able to track whose card opened it. So Ark is OCP?
1/10/2011 6:10:06 AM
I haven't watched this yet, but I feel like every other show that comes on all TWW does is complain about how nothing is happening and shit needs to move forward.

It was better than I expected. I expected it to be quite bad, and I found myself enjoying it for the most part. I could get the whole training thing, the guy was ex-military(sounded like spec ops) and a cop, so fighting wouldn't be an issue and perhaps he had knife training in the military to go along with his computer training, haha. It showed how he learned to catch knives out of the air. He had the pitching machine and put knives in it. Practical? No. Could he practice a lot with that and get good at it over a few days? Probably. The hypnotize thing doesn't seem any more far-fetched than someone using a pocket watch to hypnotize someone, so no issues with that one.I think it's becoming more common to have the person's first few missions as a "superhero" go terribly wrong, which is more realistic. And the midget was suppose to be incredibly strong with good hand-to-hand skills, I really enjoyed him and Vinny Jones(Scales) meeting on the boat, haha. It's a superhero movie, there are going to be some things that are ridiculous or a little far-fetched, you could go over Batman or any other superhero and find some things that don't make any sense. Just sit back and enjoy the show.^The guy that he was saving was the one vote they needed in the government for the city for ARK to take over the prison system as well as the police. And I imagine the head of the company that runs the police force, almost has control of the prison system, and is known to have ties to several dirty cops would likely have people in the government, so I don't see him coming out and having any type of case towards being framed.[Edited on January 10, 2011 at 8:26 AM. I didn't catch the whole knife catching training so maybe I missed that as well. Was there some sort of knife wielding bad guy out there that he was training to take on? Seems like an oddly specific thing to spend loads of time training up on. I'd think most criminals would use guns.I guess knives would be in the top 2 of popular criminal weapons though. Still, I'd like to think the criminals would prefer the method of keeping and wildly swinging a knife as opposed to the toss it and no longer have a weapon method. Then again they're trying to entertain an audience, so it can't be over analyzed. And before you ask, no I don't enjoy anything any more. [Edited on January 10, 2011 at 8:39 AM. Reason : -]

I didnt care for it. Too rushed and the main character isnt likeable. The attempts at humor were just lame. And the evil guy just puts in some wild eyez contacts whenever he feels like being bad...yeah

1/10/2011 1:51:09 PM
I don't think many people have, that's why NBC is the 4th place network
1/10/2011 2:03:52 PM
as usual with nbc, great production, awful direction. character development left many holes and the pace was way too high, many BAD actors, very predictable/cliche. feels like want to branch out way too fast before developing the core characters. basing your show on a comic book is cool and all but you have more than 20 pages with of pictures to convey your message, embrace your actual medium, not the one your premise is based on.
1/10/2011 2:15:31 PM
^^^^^ Yeah he had just had a knife thrown at him and poisoned right before he opted to learn how to catch knives.
