just finished listening to the new smith westerns album. it was enjoyable, though i don't initially like it as much as their s/t album. i'll probably give it another listen later.

the Tennis album did nothing for me, reminded me of a not as good Beach House with less keyboards.

thought the Smith Westerns was pretty good, sounds a lot like T-Rex's "The Slider" at points

new wire is good, new james blake is awesome, new smith westerns is really good, new british sea power is good, new mogwai is decent, new iron & wine is fucking awful

downloading new akron/family and tennis right now

update: actually, from what i've heard, the akron/family that leaked was apparently a joke leak by the band to cause confusion and avoid a leak of the real album...apparently there are several versions that leaked that are all heavily remixed from the real album. the one i heard was really noisy, fuzzy electronic music, kinda confused me

the James Blake, new Decemberists record and that new Cave Singers record are next up in my rotation.

i've already been on the Cave Singers a bit, and the first half of that record is fantastic.

new decemberists is not as obnoxiously bad as hazards of love, but i wouldn't say it's good either. it's decent.

i really dig the Tennis album for one. maybe it would remind me of Beach House if the tempo was dropped by 50% as well as the cheerfulness.

I don't know why I said Beach House... sounds like a not-as-good Best Coast. either way it left me lukewarm.

Was just about to come in and mention the new Tennis.

It's a short and sweet album. There's nothing special about it, per se.

But I really dig that chick's voice. It's not gonna grow on me, but I like it. I think they're coming to Local 506 sometime in March. I'll most likely go see them. I liked that DeShannon cover on their Myspace page. Should be good times...

anything new that isn't hipster music? can't stand that garbage.

I'm out of the loop on new music for the last decade.

depends on what you consider "hipster music." The Music of 20XX threads on here always feature a huge range of music from electronic, to indie, to metal, to hip hop, to pop etc. Already on this page there are several bands that sound absolutely nothing like each other.

I guess it depends on what you are looking for (and I know it's hard to tell what style all these bands are that people list if you aren't in the loop so to speak - I was just pointing out that there is always a wide range of styles and tastes here).

Radiohead multi-cam dvd of their entire set from the Haiti benefit show. Free to download in HD (suggested donation of course). The entire thing is streaming in 720p on youtube as well. Sound quality is really solid there. Great set spanning all their albums.

Kanye West and Jay-Z are doing an album together called "Watch The Throne". The lead single was released at midnight tonight...its alright, I don't really like Kanye West's verse on it though. Here it is:
