Do any of you have experience with this? There are a bunch of companies online who do it. I would prefer to go speak with someone in person. What are some of the companies you have used to consolidate your loans?

at the end of this school year i will be able to finally ask for relief of my student loans since I this is the 5th year I have taught at a low-income school.

Yeah half of it is federal and half is not. What is annoying is various banks keep purchasing the loans. So now I am paying 4 different companies each month. In an ideal world I would like to set it up so 1 payment is auto drafted from my account.

I did this back in 2006. I don't remember the name of the consolidator I used, I'll have to dig that up, but it's saved me a pretty penny. I did it right before the government really jacked up the interest rates as a way to lock them in at the low rate.Found it: https://www.acs-education.com/CS/Jsp/general/home.jsp[Edited on December 22, 2010 at 3:34 PM. my interest rate is only 2.75% on each loan

I have one loan from law school with about 35k left on it (Stafford Loan) and its @ 6.8%. I am pretty sure there is nothing I can do to change that rate though.

yeah, think I got my interest rates cut in half initially by setting up auto-pay for each month.]
