http://www.tnreport.com/2010/12/shoddy-work-mismanagement-plague-federal-stimulus-program/Really, who could have seen this coming?

trying to inject 500 billion cash into the econonmy in 2 years...this was always going to be a problem, but does it outweigh the benefits? Not in the slightest bit.
12/22/2010 12:28:49 AM
What were those benefits again? Another $500 Billion in federal debt and interest payments on the same in perpetuity?

It kept a lot of state budgets afloat, including Wake Co. Schools IIRC.Seems if states, banks, and car companies crumbled at the same time, that wouldn’t have been a good thing...

You do realize that we're just kicking the can down the road a bit further and, at some point, the lender of last resort will be out of lending power? It is like a bunch of assholes who live in the same house, and instead of taking out the trash, they figure they can put it off just a bit longer then no one will have to go to the garbage can. This won't go on forever.

when the cost of putting out the fire and repairing the damage exceeds the cost of building a newer, better house, then you build a newer, better house.

Just burn the trash directly. Problem solved.
12/22/2010 10:11:47 AM
can we just not recycle the trash?
12/22/2010 10:19:07 AM
and if any of it is organic, it should be composted.
12/22/2010 10:19:49 AM
it's cheaper to just export all the trash to China and let them deal with it
12/22/2010 10:27:12 AM
So long as we're borrowing money from China to pay for those trash exporting services.
12/22/2010 10:52:52 AM
the real question is, are these trash exporting jobs being created here in the US ?..and with crude at $90/barrel, how long are these shipping operations sustainable?
12/22/2010 11:28:37 AM
if we use crop based biofuels we can simultaneously reduce oil consumption while driving up prices for food, which will keep the farm lobby happy.

I love it when threads turn into runaway analogies.
