Old threads were dead.

Post here when something worth buying is listed on http://www.steepandcheap.com or any of it's affiliate sites. I am in love.

I don't always check it, but I am on TWW more than any other website. If anything is for sale worth buying, TWW needs to let me know.

They're pretty meh these days IMO. They have decent items, but the prices are never worth getting excited about when you factor in shipping. It's like catching it on sale at REI.

Whiskey Militia too. That place has turned into a clearing house for all the ridiculously ugly gear that skate/snow companies have been churning out over the past couple of years. I guess if you want a lime green and hot pink snowboard jacket that's the site to follow.

I still keep BonkTown and Chainlove open on my desktop, but the thing is that now I have most of the stuff I wanted, so I'm just hoping for more and more specific things to show up. Maybe the pricing is that the sites have become more well-known, so they can sell out of most stuff before they get to offering really deep discounts. So unless you're looking for an XS or 3XL, it never makes it to the 80% off, 90% off sales of the past.

i've bought almost all of my christmas gifts on steapandcheap and whiskey militia (also backcountry.com the parent company) for the past three years. just this week i bought my wife a Mountain Hardware Gortex rain jacket for $89 (usually $199) and my Secret Santa person a pair of Oakley Snowboarding goggles for $45 (usually $110). I like the new feature where you can hold an order from shipping so you can add stuff to it and not have to pay separate shipping costs (just $1 per addition). I have the little pop-up notification so I see the deals as they come through. I only really monitor it around christmas time though.

I used to buy a lot from SAC, but they seem to not be offering a lot of good stuff in normal sizes for less than 50% off MSRP anymore

Shipping kills any kind of impulse purchasing

try http://www.gearburger.com.

steepandcheap, bonktown, etc are basically feeds for backcountry.com

gearburger sends e-mail alerts for items on a plethora of sites for specific brands/types of gear you want. the sites it monitors include:

Altrec.com, AltrecOutlet.com, Backcountry.com, Bike.com, CampSaver.com, Chifly.com, DepartmentOfGoods.com, DogFunk.com, evogear.com, FishWest.net, FontanaSports.com, GearX.com, Giantnerd, Half-Moon Outfitters, HucknRoll.com, Konasports.com, Marine Products, MasseysOutfitters.com, Moosejaw, o2 Gear Shop, OutdoorBasics.com, Patagonia.com, RamseyOutdoor.com, RealCyclist.com, REI, RiverBum.com, Skis.com, Snowboards.net, TheRiversEdge.com, USOutdoorStore.com, WildFly.com
