So here's the thing: I bought a permit for the RS Lot on Centennial and turns out I don't use it as much as I thought I would need. I've decided to sell the permit and make some much needed money while saving some freshmen's ass er something. My contact info is mhbyrd@ncsu.edu. Email if interested.

Let's see... I'll start it at $150? Much less than I paid :/ But it's all good!

highly illegal?

what particular laws would this person be breaking?

but yeah, if you can sell it back to the school that's the best plan of action.

i wouldn't say it's "highly illegal" but i think the passes are considered property of transportation at ncsu and therefore you can't sell it yourself.

yeah, you're not suppose to sell this

have fun being sent to collections when someone racks up some parking tickets on your pass.

came here to post this. they will be withholding your transcript if that parking pass is still listed under your name with fines/fees.

Sell it to a friend or back to NCSU.

it has to be through the pass number because they can keep you from graduating if you have unpaid tickets

won't happen UNLESS the person parks where they're not supposed

parking enforcement doesn't waste time scanning passes that are parked where they're allowed to park

obviously.

when i bought a pass from someone once i wrote up a quick contract thing where i agreed to pay for any parking tickets i incurred.

but again, in general, unless you can make some $texas by selling it privately, i don't see why you wouldn't sell it back to the school

agreed...but the OP may not have known they COULD sell it back to transportation...and it's always possible they could be making $50 or something

yes, parking tickets are processed based on the permit #.

and of course transportation doesn't sit around matching tags to permit numbers. that's not the point. the point is if someone does buy this pass and get a ticket the OP is screwed.

sell it back to school and get back half of what you paid (RS=$180, you get back $90 if you sell it back before spring semester starts)

Well shit. Didn't expect responses. People actually use this site ;D

So far the tickets I've gotten only list the license number... Petty ticket though so unsure if they did match it to the permit. After all, when you pay a ticket online it asks for your student ID.

Hell if I know. I wasn't aware you could sell it back to the school. Eh... guess 90 bucks back isn't too bad. Contact transportation in the morning.

Thanks guys...?

Damn... I wanted bank

Just sold my West Lot permit back for 146 bucks. It feels nice to not be ripped off by NCSU after selling all my textbooks back for like $30z.

I work for NCSU, but for a while was out of the office for surgery and gave my permit to a friend, which meant I had to add his license plate to my permit. I never removed it though and a few weeks later he got a ticket.

Because his license plate was tied to my permit, when he got a ticket parking somewhere they ran his plate, saw he was on my permit and I got the ticket.

Long story short, putting someone else on your permit is just asking for a headache. Just sell it back.
