If i give a person my routing and account number, can that person withdraw money from my account in the future?

Not legally. But with those two numbers, they could have fake checks made and then forge your signature. Now, with your account number and going to your bank, they can deposit money into your account.

well I don't know much about it, but I think the answer to your OP is no, unless they used the info to setup payments/transfers online. But then there would be a direct link to whatever other account they were submitting a payment/transfer for, and they'd easily be found out. I know at my bank, you have to show ID to withdraw over the counter, not just have the acct numbers.

The answer to the question is always yes. You should always make the decision to give that information out knowing that a person with it, could empty your account. Perhaps the person you give it to does not use it themselves but they sell that information if they were in a position to get those numbers from a lot of people. The 3rd party then empties your account in a foreign country, gets a cashiers check for the amount and then closes their account. You'd get your money back from the bank because it was fraudulent but it's still going to be a hassle.
