Need an M12 1.5 Single Oversize (self tapping) drain bolt.Advance Auto, Autozone, & O'Reilly only carry M12 1.25.I can get it from Amazon.com, but I have to buy 5 of them and it's $18.xx after shipping. I only need one, so I'd much rather find a single for $5 or less.Any other place local I might find it?

^ That's actually an excellent idea. I'll try tomorrow. Now that I think about it...I wonder if those fuckers stripped the drain plug on my Jeep. That would explain why the bolt changed colors after an oil change. http://www.amazon.com/M12-1-50-Single-Oversize-Drain-Gasket/dp/B0040CRVD8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=automotive&qid=1288828534&sr=8-1[Edited on November 3, 2010 at 7:57 PM. A self tapping oil plug? In case you decide to drain the oil from a different spot on the pan? Yeah, I'd say that's not factory...

I've used those rubber plugs a few times when I didn't want to rethread an oil pan.http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product__5019842-P_N3126_A|GRP2037___I wouldn't reuse them though or trust them on anything more than a junker.

Carquest. M12x1.5 isn't that uncommon at all; I don't know why Advance Shit Parts doesn't have them in the store.

^^ I'll try the CQ on Germantown Rd. on the way home. Not sure why it is so hard to find a 1.5 thread pitch either, but I guess there just isn't that much demand for it.

whats the oil pan in question? jeep?
11/4/2010 6:56:44 PM
Honda Rancher ATV, so it's the bottom of the crankcase rather than an oil pan. Looks like some kind of cast metal, so it should tap pretty easy.

How did it strip. Banging against rocks?

I used too much of my strengthyness when putting it back in. Changed the diff fluid, transfer case, & oil filter. Was about to fill it back up with oil and be done with it, but I had to fuck something up or else it wouldn't be right.

I'm an oil drain plug short and stouttttttttttttttttttt

I'm the proud owner of $19 worth of oversize oil bolts now. Hope this shit works.
11/8/2010 7:09:21 PM
can i ask why.
11/8/2010 10:18:17 PM
Advance Auto, Autozone, O'Reilly, Carquest, Midas, & Meineke didn't have it. I wasted more than $19 worth of my time trying to track down something I could have just gotten delivered to my house from Amazon.com and decided it was not worth wasting any more time on.[Edited on November 9, 2010 at 8:49 AM. Looks like you hit every parts place except Pep Boys and NAPA. Add them in and complete the set?
