Now that we are eligible for post-season play, I think it's worth mentioning bowl games. Here's what I found for the ACC... Let me know if something is wrong.Obviously, the opponents are tough to pick so I just threw something out there.ACC #1: Orange Bowl - 1/3 @ 8PM vs. BCS team (there is no tie-in this year so maybe Boise State?) in Miami, FLACC #2: Chic-fil-A Bowl - 12/31 @ 7:30PM vs. SEC #5 (Right now South Carolina or Arkansas) in Atlanta, GAACC #3: Champs Sports Bowl - 12/28 @ 6:30PM vs. Big East #2 (Wide open right now, but maybe Syracuse, Rutgers or WVU?) in Orlando, FLACC #4: Sun Bowl - 12/31 @ 2PM vs. Pac-10 #4 (Stanford/Oregon State) in El Paso, TXACC #5: Car Care Bowl - 12/31 @ Noon vs. Big East #3 (Again, the Big East is wide open right now) in Charlotte, NCACC #6: Music City Bowl - 12/30 @ 6:40PM vs. SEC #7 (Florida/Georgia/Miss St? Interesting) in Nashville, TNACC #7: Independence Bowl - 12/27 @ 5PM vs. MWC #3 (San Diego St.? That'd be a fun game) in Shreveport, LAACC #8: Eagle Bank Bowl - 12/29 @ 2:30PM vs. C-USA #6 (Southern Miss?) in Washington, DCFor the date/time/location/practicality/opponent I'd prefer the Champ Sports Bowl, but being such a big NCSU fan I'd obviously prefer the bigger bowls. I also went to the last Tangerine Bowl we were in (smoking Kansas) and there was no one there and it's in the ghetto part of Orlando. The Orange Bowl would be amazing and Chic-fil-A bowl is a great time (went to Peach Bowls before), but SEC is always tough.I really don't see us falling out of the top 4. Even if we're #5 in record, we would probably move up because of our fanbase.[Edited on November 1, 2010 at 1:18 PM. Reason : .]

Please God do not let us end up in the Sun Bowl. No only is it a horrible, horrible location, we'll likely be playing a pretty stout opponent from the Pac-10. Whoever ends up in the Music City Bowl for the ACC (UNC maybe) is going to get pounded assuming they run into UGA, UF, or MSU. The ACC needs to have at least one team playing on New Year's Day. We need another good bowl tie in with the Gator Bowl gone.[Edited on November 1, 2010 at 1:25 PM. Reason : df]
11/1/2010 1:25:01 PM
new years eve in ATL would be fun once again. but i want the orange bowl baby!
11/1/2010 1:28:22 PM
No matter where the game is, I will be going. I agree with rflong though in that El Paso blows.
11/1/2010 1:35:14 PM
I'd like to avoid the Sun Bowl as well other than that I may try to make it.
11/1/2010 1:38:54 PM
The Sun Bowl would be against a good team at least. The Big East 2/3 this year is still very average. There are no good WVU, Pitt or even Louisville from a years back out there..
11/1/2010 1:44:15 PM
Sun Bowl seems oddly out of place...everything else is well within driving distance of ACC territoryIts similar to when we were slotted into the Boise game for a few years...wtf
11/1/2010 1:44:18 PM
If NC State finished 4/5 in the ACC, would you rather us go to the:Sun Bowl in El Paso, TX-change of scenery-good PAC-10 opponent-shitty location, more challenging to get there, etc.-higher in the ACC pecking orderMeineke Bowl in Charlotte, NC-same old shitty car care bowl-convenient drive, lower traveling cost-less exciting Big East team, as NyM pointed out-Charlotte > El Paso
11/1/2010 1:54:05 PM
Charlotte all the wayand I'd say that if I live anywhere but El Paso
11/1/2010 1:54:59 PM
^^^And the Emerald Bowl in San Fran. ^^Since I would probably not go to either one, I'd rather play in El Paso vs a legit team in a new area. Hopefully neither is an option..in a good way. ]
11/1/2010 1:55:31 PM
I kinda hope UNC goes to the DC bowl so I can go cheer for whatever shitty team they play.
11/1/2010 2:32:23 PM
I'd love to travel to Miami, ATL, or Orlando...but knowing our habit of shutting the bed, I'm happy just to be bowl eligible.
11/1/2010 2:37:04 PM
Everyone can thank John Swofford for pushing for the Boston College rule and trading the Gator Bowl for Sun Bowl.Does anyone know if you need a passport to get to the Sun Bowl?
11/1/2010 2:40:16 PM
Miami would be perfect.
11/1/2010 3:17:55 PM
I lived in el paso for two years. It's not even worth calling it a shithole. It's even worse than that. The only thing worth doing was heading down to juarez to drink and pick up some Mexican girls. But theres no way id go down there now. I did go to one Sun Bowl while I was there and it was a shitty game with about 10 people in the stands. I'd rather go to Charlotte.
11/1/2010 3:30:22 PM
can someone remind me if there is a rule regarding where the loser of the ACCCG goes? or was that just when the ACCCG was in florida?
11/1/2010 3:43:47 PM
I believe the loser falls back into the pack with everyone else as far as where everyone else goes. That one loss I believe counts as far as putting you into that within one loss of everyone else argument as well for selecting teams.
11/1/2010 3:48:34 PM
If we lost in the ACC title game, I'm 99.9% sure we would get a Peach Bowl invite. We have a nice history there, and it's been a while since we played in it. I think we still end up there even if we finish 6-2 and FSU wins the Atlantic. ]
11/1/2010 4:38:59 PM
11/1/2010 4:43:21 PM
If UNC goes to the care care bowl again, and loses again, do you think they will finally ban them from playing there?
11/1/2010 5:07:09 PM
11/1/2010 5:25:28 PM
And the bowls don't have to pick by standings (other than ACC Championship winner to BCS). They only have to pick within one game in the ACC standings (i.e. all 2 loss teams must be picked before a 4 loss team).
11/1/2010 7:36:01 PM
BC lost the ACC championship game in 07 and got stuck in the Champs Sports Bowl or whatever because no one wanted them]
11/1/2010 7:39:07 PM
^Bowl games like to have fans attend. Before the BC rule the probably would have still ended up in Boise.
11/1/2010 7:52:49 PM
my family planned a cruise to the bahamas for christmas from dec. 26 - jan 2. so i won't be going to any bowl game unless we go to the orange bowl. figures the year we plan something like that state has a chance of going to a decent bowl
11/1/2010 8:46:24 PM
i wish Charlotte was the last place bowl for the ACC ... since I've been there so many times it just doesn't feel like a big deal to go play there for a postseason game
11/1/2010 8:52:05 PM
My pecking order. Miami because I already planned on being there for new years. How AWESOME would that be? Atlanta...because well it would be a great time on new years eve....and then Orlando....but hell even if we go to el paso I will go. Lets go SOMEWHERE!
11/1/2010 9:49:13 PM
Please GOD give us Orange or Chick Fil A.........both would work out PERFECTLY with my work schedule
11/2/2010 10:51:03 PM
Come on Meineke Car Car Bowl. We rock that shit.
11/3/2010 12:59:34 AM
My family and I will be moving back to CONUS in December, and it would be awesome to go to a Bowl game...probably won't happen, though.
11/3/2010 4:42:25 AM
ESPN Mark Schlabach have us currently (week 9) at Chick-fil-A (ACC vs. SEC) North Carolina State vs. Mississippi Statehttp://espn.go.com/college-football/bowls/projections/_/week/9[Edited on November 3, 2010 at 6:36 PM. Reason : .]
11/3/2010 6:35:16 PM
NCAA FB has the worst post season ever. Prematched games are fucking stupid.PLAYOFFS ALREADY.
11/3/2010 7:32:45 PM
Could still do orlando
11/6/2010 4:01:45 PM
toilet bowl or bust
11/6/2010 4:09:13 PM
11/7/2010 1:56:20 AM
11/7/2010 1:13:56 AM
Hell, we could still go to the Orange Bowl... "We control our fate" once again. But after yesterday's performance, I see us losing to UNC and MAYBE UMD, so either Sun Bowl or Car Care Bowl, HERE WE COME!
11/7/2010 7:49:30 AM
this thread needs an update
11/20/2010 3:59:39 PM
We win our next two games and it's orange bowl. Simple as that.
11/20/2010 4:01:14 PM
so we pull for MD tonight. that way we end up at least 2nd place in Atlantic Div cause FSU isnt beating UF next week...
11/20/2010 4:02:13 PM
k, thanks
11/20/2010 4:02:18 PM
Scenarios:- win @ MD and in the ACC Championship Game= Orange (duh)- win vs. MD and lose ACC Chapionship Game= Game Formerly Known As Peach and Now For Tasty Chicken Sandwiches- lose to MD after a FSU loss to MD= likely Car Care (FSU taken by Champs)- lose to MD after FSU win over MD= likely ChampsI think. Correct me if this doesn't sound right.
11/20/2010 4:03:13 PM
no way in hell maryland wins those last two. maryland fucking sucks. they've played absolutely nobody. or, beaten nobody at least. their best win is boston college? navy maybe? we should be 10 pt favorites
11/20/2010 4:06:48 PM
Sun Bowl chooses over Car Care bowl
11/20/2010 4:09:14 PM
Is the Chik-Fil-a bowl obligated to take the loser of the championship game? Or do they have the option to trade down to a team within 1 loss?
11/20/2010 4:31:14 PM
think it still falls under the 1 loss rule.
11/20/2010 4:39:51 PM
miami or atlanta for new years?...methinks a good time is in order
11/20/2010 5:54:39 PM
^you are jumping the gun. Maryland is next. Then we will talk.
11/20/2010 6:18:39 PM
Yeah, depending on what happens with Maryland there's a chance we could fall as low as the Sun bowl.[Edited on November 20, 2010 at 6:23 PM. Reason : actually, maybe lower, I keep forgetting about Miami]
11/20/2010 6:22:09 PM
Question for the stat-minded... What's the lowest ranked team to ever play in the Orange/whatever-it-was-before-that bowl? I feel like beating Maryland and VT (long shot in my mind, honestly), won't cause our ranking to skyrocket. I feel like we'll be in the mid teens at best... which seems like it could be one of the lower rankings for a major bowl team.
