I think people realized that kung fu is stupid
10/2/2014 11:27:56 AM
they sucked then. they suck now.

I like old martial arts movies. El Ray plays a lot of them. Karate Kid is one of the best movies of all times.
10/2/2014 12:40:23 PM
karate kid was interesting, but even as a child, the acting was too stiff and scenes too fake for me to get into.

No way, Maccio, Morito & Shue were brilliant!
10/2/2014 12:49:52 PM
I saw Macchio and Kove at Dragoncon this year. Macchio is a pretty cool guy in person, but Martin Kove is actually a badass. He is on my list of dudes nearing 70 I would not fuck with

I used to have a huge crush on Elisabeth Shue.

They fell out of favor once CGI started taking over action movies, so instead, we get super hero movies now. There has been some good relatively recent stuff though, check out anything with Tony Jaa in it, dude is a badass.

sequel to crouching tiger hidden dragon coming out on Netflix, so there's still hope.also, it's not a true martial arts movie if the line "Buddha's name be praised" is not said by at least two characters.

The Jackie Chan era was the last era for me... once he stopped making good movies, that's when it died for me.MMA also didn't do much too help. You quickly found out that Kung Fu was a bunch of lies.

i blame wire work. fuck that shit.
10/3/2014 10:37:08 AM

The Raid Redemption was awesome as well. Not 'pure' martial arts but dope none the lessI'm Krallum and I approved this message.

^^ that was eight years ago
10/3/2014 12:15:12 PM
The second Raid movie was pretty good too.

Bloodsport was on TV last night
10/3/2014 1:45:02 PM
They're supposed to be making remakes of bloodsport and kickboxer within the next couple of years and Tony Jaa and Scott Adkins are supposedly going to be starring in them.Just YouTube some of the Scott Adkins fight scenes in "Undisputed" (I, II, or III) or Tony Jaa in "Ong-Bak" (I, II, or III LOL) and you will see the Kung-fu flick - with no CGI and very little wire work- is still alive and well.
10/3/2014 5:24:32 PM
If it has any wire work, I'm not watching. I'm a kung fu snob.
10/3/2014 8:20:37 PM
Did you people not see Ip Man I & II?
10/3/2014 8:52:28 PM
My theory: martial arts movies are now being replaced by "operator" movies. Modern warfare has brought back the b rated movies since everyone wants to be a special forces navy seal delta marine recon guy.
