Trying to decide what section to take.

I am wondering if I should take Rodman or Watkins. I would actually like to know more about Watkins because I haven't heard anything about him.

Rodman grades attendance and gives 2 take home exams... The exams are HARD and take a lot of time... but you can easily pull off an A

FYI ...

Watkin's section is "Distance Education" taught via the Internet and run through Engineering Online.

Thus there is an additional charge to take that section.

All sections numbered 601 are DE sections.

Bitzer is beyond terrible, he can't speak, he can't write, his explanations rarely answer the question asked, hell the poor guy can barely even walk

if one of his TAs doesn't teach the whole class, you will jump off the eb2 skybridge before its over

If I wasn't in office hours every chance I could I would have done terribly.

Yeah he invented Plasma, congratulations. Retirement was calling a decade ago.

i thought bitzer was ok. well, for that matter, i thought rodman was an ok teacher, just that his lectures were boring

i took it online with watkins last semester. i liked it cause you can rewind and replay the lectures if you missed something cause its just a video file... plus you can watch it at 2x speed if youre too lazy and i also heard to avoid rodman at all costs

Bitzer is a terrible teacher because he mumbles too much to be heard more than 3 feet away.

But his TAs always teach the class for him, and from what I've seen it's been the same TA for the past 3 years, and the guy can teach decently. Bitzer himself only steps up to do the occasional magic trick or whatever.


From what I've seen of Watkins he's pretty good. If he's who I'm thinking of, he's both a decent teacher and a pretty cool guy.


Taking the class with Rodman is a thoroughly unpleasant experience. Attendance is required/graded and if you attend you'll be bored out of your mind. Also, for homework, he has you do problems out of the book and write them on a paper hard copy, rather than using WebAssign like everyone else. For the other teachers, if you pay enough attention/take decent notes/are pretty good at looking up information, you probably won't even need to buy the book.
