We made some great strides last season. We added Stephen Jackson, had our first All Star, and made the postseason for the first time. We won 44 games, which was a surprise to all of us. Most importantly, we actually became a legitimate NBA team, knocking off some juggernauts like Cleveland and San Antonio while continuing our dominance of the Lakers. But the glass is always half empty. We lost Felton and a few role players this offseason, and added no one of significance. Eduardo Najera, Kwame Brown and Matt Carroll represent our biggest additions. We had no draft picks. It seemed like we stayed stuck in neutral while everyone else got better. Poor signings and cap management have really limited our ability to sign any meaningful free agents, and the fact that Charlotte is not a "Destination City" means we'll probably have to make creative trades in the future in order to contend.I think we can get back to the playoffs. I think we can even win a game. But unless something drastic happens, that's as far as this team goes.

I'd be shocked if the current bunch gets to the playoffs, but I said the same thing last year too. I'm saying 30-52.
10/11/2010 11:08:28 AM
we will be worse than last year

Felton was underrated ( tho not nearly as much as a certain poster here would have you believe), but I think DJ can be an adequate starter in this system. He's a good shooter, much better than Raymond, and since Jackson directs the offense so much, he doesn't have to be a pure playmaker to be effective. He'll never make us not regret picking him over Brook Lopez, but I could see him scoring in the low teens with half a dozen assists and 40% from downtown.
10/11/2010 11:34:43 AM
we'll be lucky to make the playoffs with all the additions other teams made

This is frustrating to take such a big step back while wallace is still (barely) in his prime. I think jacksons age will catch up to him a little more this year though it will be offset by adding a great player like tyrus to the rotation.Losing chandler makes us really thin up front particularly since mohammed prob can't handle a ton of minutes at his age.Losing felton obviously kills unless livingston can stay healthy and produce (not TOO far fetched).Miles would be a big acquisition if he could stay healthy but I think that's a big if.Hard to say where we'll end up. Prob right around 35-40 wins so ill guess 37-45 for our record... Might change that in a few days when I get a better idea what type of shape our bigs are in and if livingston and or miles can play much...

our over under is 39.5 which I think is an almost perfect estimate.I'd project us for 41 wins, however that is super dependent on the amount of games Gerald Wallace plays. We have some huge ifs (Livingston and Miles) who are both solid players if they can go.If they can't go we are a high 30's win team if they can we can win mid 40s.But if Wallace get huts we could dip to the 28-32 win range. If hard pressed I'd take the under because we have a lot more downside than upside with our current roster but I wouldn't take either side because the margin is so slim.

Normally I would say this season is over but since the #8 seed in the East could hypotethically have 35-38 wins, I guess we have a tiny chance to make the playoffs and get wiped out by Miami in the first round.I'd rather just take the lottery pick I think...Gerald is reverting back to a more normal season, last year he was just unbelievable so we couldn't really expect him to be quite as good but he's fallen off quite a bit.DJ is still on fire from 3's like in the preseason which is making him a competent PG instead of an awful one. But I'm not sure he can keep it up.Plain and simple we need a big man we couldn't afford to trade Tyson for nothing. I can't believe we traded a solid big man with an expiring contract for literally NOTHING. We didn't even really save money or get cap space. What the fuck was Jordan thinking, he is just incompetent on so many levels.[Edited on October 31, 2010 at 11:11 AM. Reason : a]
10/31/2010 11:10:40 AM
i thought the bobs traded away their upcoming first rounder?or is it lotto-protected?
10/31/2010 12:32:11 PM
We didn't have a pick this year and in 2012 we may lose a pick to Chicago:Chicago Bulls: Receives 2012 first-round pick (lottery-protected in 2012, top-12 protected in 2013, top-10 in 2014, top-8 in 2015, unprotected in 2016) from the Charlotte Bobcats via the Tyrus Thomas trade on 2/18/10.But I'm pretty sure we still have the 2011 one. If we don't Jordan should be buried somewhere.
10/31/2010 12:54:18 PM
So we nixed the trade due to "defense".In the meantime opposing PG's have lit us for 18 assists one night and a triple double another night. Boris Diaw is doing nothing on either end.So imagine my frustration watching Reggie Evans dominate tonight (and all season so far) while Calderon splashes threes. What the fuck did we cancel that trade for?!
11/2/2010 12:11:10 AM
At 0-3 were still only 1 game out of the #8 seed bc the east is so weak for the last spot.Unfortunately I think NJ beats us tonight I mean hell we couldn't beat them last year for gods sake. Lopez seems to destroy us and murphy might make his return tonight
