I went >5yr ago. I had a good time, but I also had almost a 12-pack in me. It seems like they add new stuff each year (based on the signs on Covered Bridge Rd and the radio commercials).

Again, the details are a bit fuzzy, but it seems like you had to pay for a ticket to each attraction, much like the fair.

yea, and I thought it wasnt that good.

its scary but maybe to a 13 year old.

No grown man will jump...maybe not even females unless you are just really really easily scared.

Went before---it sucked. Too expensive and just a lot of "boo" type scares.

If you feel like a drive, Boogerwoods is THE BEST. I've gone the past three years running. Love it.

Went last year because I heard it was one of the better ones. No one (all adults) was scared except a few girls for only a second. Any better suggestions? I would love to go to a scary one. Also it was rather expensive.

Went here last year and going again this year, worth the drive but make sure you buy tickets in advance. The line was LONG and we were able to walk right in with advanced tickets.

Went there a few years ago. Can't remember how much I paid. All I remember is that it was freakin' cold and it was not scary at all.

Boogerwoods...lol.

Yeah, I actually want to get scared. Halloween is my freaking crack, I LOVE horror movies and this stuff.

Any other suggestions?

Is the corn maze at least worth it?

Corn Maze sucked balls last year. It was just a maze, no one jumped out at you or anything, the jumpy things were the other attractions there.

Not to mention, the worst part was there was no right way to do the maze, the entrance was the exit once you walked every path and realized you just wasted your time, money, and gas to get there.

This one is in Greensboro and it is awesome. I go there and Spooky Woods every year. I plan on going to both tonight.

Both Frightmare and the Raleigh Jaycess Haunted House are not running this year. Fear Farm is the only haunted house in the triangle this year.

I went to both Woods of Terror and Spookywoods last night. Both were great. If you go to either one, their is a $5 parking fee. That's something both started this year which I think is stupid.
Also, Spookywoods has a zip line this year. It's pretty expensive though.

I thought Woods of Terror was way too long and not that scary.

I went last year cause it got ranked in the top 20 scariest Halloween attractions in the nation, and the only thing it had going for it was sheer size/length. The scariest part of the whole place was feeling like you might be stuck in it forever.

Spooky Woods is running a good deal on tickets. You can get a ticket for Thursday or Sunday for $8. This is for the whole season. Though the $8 ticket deal ends this weekend.

is kersey valley spookywoods really worth the $25?

That seems pricey, but everyone raves about it supposedly.

wife and I will be in Boone next saturday and thought we'd stop there on the way home if it was really worth it..
what all does the $25 ticket include? how long does it take?

^ Yes it's worth it. For the $25, you go through a haunted house which has a SAW theme this year. Then you go on a haunted tram ride through the woods. The Tram will take you to the ghost walk. This is a haunted trail walk through the woods. Afterwards, you get back on the tram to the cornfield. You go through the cornfield to the haunted castle. The castle is the last attraction and it is huge. Their are a different themed rooms through it. That's basically all of Spookywoods.
Their is a zipline this year that takes you over Spookywoods but it's expensive. I think for a full zipline it's like $60.
Oh yeah, their is a separate $5 parking fee at Spookywoods.

I went this past Sunday and while it was alright I would have been pissed if I had spent $25 on it instead of the $17 or whatever it ended up being on a Sunday. I would definitely classify it as spooky and not scary. I heard from the guys I went with this year that Woods of Terror is much better and more bang for your buck.

Went to spookywoods tonight. It was ok, but I wasn't impressed. Definitely not worth the hour and a half drive, and probably not worth the $20.

Clayton Fear farm is alot of fun if you go in a group. Pretty good and gory haunted houses. Get the $25 pass to see just about everything. A couple of notes:

-for those with scared girlfriends, there are a few exhibits that are on the tame side: the 3D house of dreams, the cornmaze, and the spinning hole.

-Avoid the hayride if you are in line with a TON of tweenage girls. There are times when things get scary and they plop and fall all over the place screaming their heads off. I had one sit right in my lap

-Bring cash. There is an ATM inside the consession stand but it charges $3

-SLAUGHTERHOUSE FTW!!!

i went to woods of terror sunday.

lesson learned. will not do tha again

The experience would have been amazing if not for the 20 million people at a time they let

it is tough to stay ahead of the pack to get all the scares if a group in front of you JUST went through that section, at the same time if youre with a group its a dic move to try to leave them behind

from now on ill just go on days that arent reduced price, its GOTTA be less people.

This is one of the things in life where its better to spend MORE money than to slide in on the cheap day

^^ It will still be crowded on Friday and Saturday. I have yet to get to a haunted house. I want to go to Busch Gardens but don't know if I will or not. If not, I'll probably do Spooky Woods.

This. I was stuck in the back of the pack. All the people up front got the shit scared out of them. But by the time I passed through -- since all the scaring had already been done -- they just tried to creep me out. "YOU SMELL GOOD ... I WANNA EAT YOUR EAR" type stuff. Not really scary ... just annoying.

Lesson: Go when it's not crowded ... or get at the front.

^And for clarification, I was talking about Woods of Terror here. I'd definitely hit up Spookywoods before this one.

One more thing about Spookywoods -- not sure if I believe it, but it's worth noting. There's reportedly been a lot of legit paranormal activity inside one of the buildings. Several ghost-hunter groups have investigated there, and they almost all find crazy stuff going on. The biggest story seems to revolve around a ghost they've nicknamed the Fiddler. Here's a little blurb I pulled off the Ghost Hunter NC website.

Quote :
"
The main story about the old house is that a man stayed with the family who lived there, back in the 30's or so. he used to play the fiddle for them. He became sick, and grew to over 300lbs. He had a heart attack and died in his room upstairs. he was so big, they couldn't get him down the narrow staircase, so they had to take him out the upstairs window, on the left side of the house if you are facing the front. Afterwards, it is said they would hear him up there, playing his fiddle, and walking around. His presence is reported to still linger...
There are also reports of Native American spirits in the woods, and around the grounds.Shadow Figures have also been seen. EVP recordings have been made of drums, chanting, etc... Definitely an interesting place, and worthy of further exploration. It is on Kersey Valley Rd. in High Point, off Hwy 62...
