Very few comedies make this long while still being this good.Premiere was great imo. The flash forward to a wedding though...if Ted is a best man again, then is it Barney's wedding? Would it be too predictable if Barney married Robin?
9/23/2010 3:32:36 PM
Enjoyed the first episode. Hope we get to meet the mother this season though, it's getting a little ridiculous.
9/23/2010 3:38:52 PM
Yeah, they are drawing it out a lot but really we're lucky we've had five (IMO) quality seasons with this storyline. Show was close to being canceled after both the first two seasons.I don't think the show necessarily needs to end when he meets the Mom either. Frankly, Ted is my least favorite character and his story isn't the one most people (at least that I know) watch the show for...
9/23/2010 3:43:43 PM
apparently the wedding in the premiere is a major part of the show and for some of the characters. the obvious assumption is that it is Robin and Barney's. Apparently there were supposed to be some clues within those scenes, but i wasn't really paying attention to try and pick them out.
9/23/2010 3:49:03 PM
There were clues that it wasn't Robin/Barney's?[Edited on September 23, 2010 at 3:53 PM. Reason : I don't think it is theirs, seems too obvious.]
9/23/2010 3:52:34 PM
This show has gotten worse each season and needs to wrap it up and end. Unfortunately, I'll keep watching until it's over.
9/23/2010 4:30:11 PM
This was the wedding blind item from a few months ago
9/23/2010 4:33:07 PM
Barney and Robin would be the least shocking thing I've ever seen.
9/23/2010 4:38:29 PM
Ted always has his yellow umbrella but he forgot to take it to the wedding. Also Robin was wearing a sun dress because she knew what Barney liked?
9/23/2010 7:41:12 PM
It was his future wife's umbrella that he found at the club...then he left it behind at her place when he was there on a date with the roommate.there was for sure a hint at barney and robin getting back together, and who other than barney and marshall would make ted best man?[Edited on September 23, 2010 at 9:56 PM. Reason : -]
9/23/2010 9:55:20 PM
Didn't Ted's mom get married in like Season 2? I haven't heard much about his Dad, but maybe him?/grasping at straws
9/23/2010 9:57:48 PM
doubt Marshall and Lily would be a part of that, considering Marshall was in a tux and Lily was in what was seemingly a bridesmaid dress.

9/23/2010 10:08:18 PM
quality episode.I agree that the show doesn't necessarily have to end when he meets their mother.
9/23/2010 11:08:02 PM
So he definitely meets the mother at the wedding... then I'm of the opinion that the show needs to end (or will start really sucking afterward) if it's Robin and Barney's wedding. It completely destroys Barney's character and Robin/Barney already didn't really work as a a couple.
9/24/2010 8:01:11 AM
I've watched every season of this show and definitely agree that the past few seasons have been quality as well. it isn't that I think that every episode is quality but there are definitely a handful that just kill it every season. With that said, i would like this to be the second to last season at most. I imagine the last episode being the one where he meets the mom and then says "well kids, then this happened, we moved here, this happened, and then you all were born" with a few cheesy flashforward clips. After all the show is how I met your mother, not what happened when your mother and i dated.
9/24/2010 8:57:18 AM
I also wonder about the point that Family Guy made. Why is Bob Saget the voice in the narration? Clearly Ted is an adult in the show, and it's not like he's going to grow into Bob Saget as he gets older.
9/27/2010 2:19:41 AM
Way to point out something that everybody else noticed like 5 years ago.
9/27/2010 2:41:12 AM
I realize it's nothing new, duh. Just hadn't seen it discussed. Sorry to take up all the posting space, we may run out.
9/27/2010 3:29:59 AM
I think that because regardless of the improbability that Ted's voice will change it provides distinction between narration and actual plot development. If Ted's voice was used then in moments where there is narration while Ted is doing something on screen it could cause a slight confusion for some audiences. That is the simple, most obvious answer.
9/27/2010 8:20:28 AM
i don't have any problems with it.these aren't the droids you are looking for.move along.
9/27/2010 3:10:26 PM
^^thanks. That is more of the response I was looking for, and can agree for the most part.
9/27/2010 3:58:39 PM
Quality episode tonight. Thought the "Stand By Me" routine with Barney trying to be black was funny stuff.
9/27/2010 10:29:08 PM
I dunno about how I feel about tonight's episode.Barney doing autotune was funny, and it was sweet when he realized how much his mother had done for him.But the in-between part was too unbelievable/not funny, and kinda embarrassing.OMG, I'm black! It's so hard to get a cab in the city!
9/28/2010 2:05:41 AM
yeah this episode did nothing for me.
9/28/2010 7:54:00 AM
yeah I don't remember laughing much
9/28/2010 8:17:08 AM
For the first five minutes I thought that the episode had potential but then it quickly went down hill. I found the entire I'm black and Stand by Me shtick to be cheap entertainment at the high points and annoying at the lower points. The only solace to be found in this entire episode is that Barney has learned a little bit more about himself and he/we see how awesome his mother really was. Hopefully they'll do something with this revelation barney has had to further future plot development rather than making this episode and entire waste.
9/28/2010 8:41:15 AM
WHERE'S THE POOP ROBIN?
10/4/2010 8:04:56 PM
Loved tonight's. Much better than last week...
10/4/2010 9:35:11 PM
really? I thought it was kinda weak
10/4/2010 9:48:18 PM
It was aiiight.
10/4/2010 10:08:00 PM
Not impressed with this one either. The poop thing got old quickly, and even my girlfriend, who watches things I can't stand, commented on its repetitive nature and predictability. Repetitive things can be entertaining, but this one just wasn't, for me. The only part of the show that I found really entertaining was the part at the very end with Lily going back to fight that kid again.
10/5/2010 11:27:00 AM
Yeah, it kind of reminded me of the smoking one where the horrible Lily joke started early and you just knew it would continue the entire episode and eventually just started pissing you off in the end. This wasn't on that level of unfunny but it was still kind of annoying.
10/5/2010 12:25:18 PM
^agrred. Every time Lily said "where's the poop?" I shuddered b/c after ONE time it was no longer funny.
10/5/2010 12:57:30 PM
The whole Robin arc was bad, but I really liked the Barney/Ted interactions except for the stares.Marshall brought the lolz in this one though.
10/5/2010 9:20:05 PM
they are going to have to kill robin off if they can't find something for her charactershe's been dead weight for a while now, i don't enjoy this show as much as i used to
10/5/2010 10:06:30 PM
^i'm still thinking she's getting married at the end of this season
10/5/2010 10:07:29 PM
10/6/2010 3:42:39 AM
the death star contractor conversation was great, but i especially loved Marshall's lack of wingman skills
10/6/2010 9:49:54 AM
best ep so far this season...
10/12/2010 9:53:13 AM
there were some really good parts to that episode. i definitely enjoyed marshall vs the machine. I really wish they would tone down that laugh track.
10/12/2010 10:23:22 AM
i was thinking robin was gonna leave the show there for a sec
10/12/2010 10:49:18 AM
Hahahahaha Maury Povichhttp://holymaurymotherofgod.tumblr.com/
10/13/2010 9:22:12 AM
i am becoming more and more certain that the wedding will be barney and robin
10/13/2010 12:15:52 PM
10/13/2010 1:15:25 PM
The Bing maps product placement annoyed me
10/13/2010 8:05:57 PM
i didn't even notice it was Bing...I liked the concept of the map but i didn't view it as product placement
10/13/2010 8:50:03 PM
it stuck out, and then they showed "bing" when Ted was searching for his rating on the professor site. Not a big deal I guess.
10/13/2010 9:40:18 PM
there have been many worse product placements on worse shows
10/15/2010 12:21:59 AM
Very complete episode this week. I even enjoyed watching a Ted storyline, which doesn't happen often. The writers stuck to what makes each individual character interesting.
