Hi.My friend was in Wilmington recently and pulled out in front of an oncoming car, creating an accident and totaling his car. He has already purchased a Jeep Wrangler and the insurance company is going to come get his car some time soon. We've been friends for a very long time and he not only doesn't want to see them go to waste, but he also wanted to do something for me and told me that if they fit my car and I went and got them... I could have them. The rims were on a 2001 PT Cruiser Limited and I drive a 2002 VW Jetta. I'm not one for going all crazy with rims and tires, but I have a black VR6 with black interior and the paint and body are in amazing shape. Those rims he has are a mixture of flat silvers and shiny silvers, are 17" and of course have the new tires on them. If they do great, if not then I really haven't lost anything. Anyway, thanks.

the bolt pattern and hub bore are the same, and offsets are close enough that they should bolt up just fine.

Thank you.

I spent all weekend trying to get these things on my car. The patterns do match up, I'm just having a problem with the mounting equipment. My VW Jetta doesn't have lugs that come off the hub and through the rim. The VW has bolts that go through the rim and into the hub. The holes in the rims I want to install just aren't large enough for my bolts to fit through. So I spent the weekend going to Autozone, Advanced Auto, Pep Boys, NTB, out of curiosity I went to Lowe's (just to look) to see if I could find a matching thread with no head on it that I could turn into the hubs and then just find a lug set for it. No luck. Any suggestions? I'm going to call some of the rim shops on Capital Blvd this morning.

It sounds like you're trying to do a stud conversion...something like this:http://www.wheeldude.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=5497That's not going to help you though. If the lug bolts won't fit through the rim a stud won't fit through either.Sounds like you'd need to take the rims to a machine shop and have the bolt holes made a little larger to fit your lug bolts. You also have to think about the seat of the lug bolts (conical, ball, flat). You may end up having to get the seat milled out more after the bolt holes are expanded. I really don't know.

Dodge uses m12 studs. VW uses m14 usually. This could be the problem and if it is you'll need to have the wheel machined to allow the larger bolts through.these are aftermarket wheels, correct? You may need what's called tuner lug bolts. They have smaller diameter heads so they go into the smaller holes on most aftermarket wheels. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/GOR-17018SD-20/ To see if this is the problem check to see if one of your bolts can go through from the back of the wheel and it's just the larger hex end that doesn't go in enough. If the bolt goes through the back then these tuner bolts will likely get them on the car.You may need the ball seat version of those lugs, but most aftermarket wheels are conical.[Edited on September 13, 2010 at 11:35 AM.
