So, I need to find something for the middle of my fireplace mantle. I've been having problems finding a picture worth having up there. I don't want crap like an urn or tea candle fancy shit. Ideas?

I put a bigass wood frame mirror on mine, not hanging off the wall, but sitting on the mantle, slightly leaning on the wall. that's one idea.

if you can't find one big picture that you like, you can always get a bunch of pictures in the same frame and hang those up in kind of a collage type thing.

I have a large black and white nude photo of myself. You can get it blown up to any size so that it fits the space and it sets people up for disappointment before they actually see you naked.

i used to put my collection of coconut monkeys and norwegian clay trolls on my mantledo you have any coconut monkeys or norwegian clay trolls?

Could you post a picture of your mantle?? I've got 4 fireplace mantles in my house and have different shit on each of them. I used stuff I've compiled over the years in combination with random stuff I've grabbed at World Market and Marshalls over the past couple weeks. World Market has some great/affordable paintings that work well over mantles.

World Market has this:Turn it landscape and it would look super cool. http://www.worldmarket.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3596979

I continue to see this as "Manticore Ideas?"I agree with Slave FamousI would also support a tiny, porcelain manticore for the sake of the pun.

what i would avoid is posting a picture of the room and specifically the mantle
9/7/2010 7:59:01 PM
I assume from the ` that you want your mantle to be hot as fuck?
9/7/2010 8:43:37 PM
I think having a mirror leaned up against the wall is a great meantime idea.Do not go out and buy some crap to put on your mantle. Collect stuff over time. Allow your sense of design/art appreciation to develop.

the operative question here is: what do you like? don't piss money away on some random bullshit just because you feel like you need something over the mantel--that's what women and homosexuals do[Edited on September 7, 2010 at 9:28 PM. Reason : btw, none of you mfers can spell...]

most standalone mollusks do alright for themselves--but i would suggest a crocheted doily
9/7/2010 10:25:04 PM
^^agreed. i think those signs you can get a kohls or wherever that say shit like "family is home" are super tacky and make me want to barf. if you've accumulated stuff over the years i'd look for something meaninful to you, but you also can't go wrong with the mirror idea.

Then yes, I will choose to rationalize using the oldest and most respected source of knowledge about the English language there is. If the Oxford English Dictionary is ok with it, then I am, too.

What the fuck is an "mfrs"?That doesn't look like the proper spelling.(I have a clock on my mantle. Large, in charge, and displaying the wrong time)
