"Rove to give talk at UNC-Chapel Hill

Karl Rove, the chief political advisor to Republican President George W. Bush, will speak at UNC-Chapel Hill on September 20th.

Rove, now a political analyst for Fox News, will give a talk at 5 p.m. at Memorial Hall, Rob Christensen reports. The speech is being sponsored by the UNC College Republicans as well as other conservative groups.

Tickets, which are free, can be obtained by the general public from the Memorial Hall box office beginning Sept. 7th."

Get your free tickets while they last! Wonder if this will go better than the Tancredo speech?

Speaking of national conservative leaders coming to the triangle area...

"Coulter to headline fundraiser

Dome usually doesn't promote political fundraisers. But hey, a local event includes an appearance by Ann Coulter, the in-your-face conservative.

And how many political flyers feature the photograph of the keynote speaker in a tight black cocktail dress?

Coulter is scheduled to appear Sunday night at the North Ridge County Club for the Wake County Republican Women's Club's "Politics, Pasta and Pink Slips (for Democrats)" dinner and silent auction, Rob Christensen reports.

The event cost $75 although sponsorships go as high as $2,500. Coulter is a frequent guest on TV and the author of such books as “If Democrats Had Any Brains, They'd be Republicans” and “How to Talk to a Liberal (If you Must).""

Maybe another Tancredo-like fiasco will finally wake people up to the progressive slobs over in Chapel Hole. That isn't to say that every Tar Hole is a progressive, or that all progressives are slobs - but the progressive group(s) on campus over there are a bunch of fucking morons.

I mean, I never really thought much of Cindy Sheehan, but when she came to state the College GOP shouted her down every time she tried to talk. There's a great history of college political groups doing dumb things, mostly because they are made up of college kids.

^ Aha, what up Goldwater. If you like stories about insane college kids doing stupid crap to try to shut down the opposition, you'd love Before The Storm by Rick Perlstein. It has lots of great stuff about Young Americans for Freedom organized themselves much like the Maoists they hated (and by Maoists, I mean actual Maoists in the historical sense, not in the "OBAMA IS COMMUNIST" sense) and took over the Republican Party in the buildup to 1964, along with segregationists who were upset with Kennedy actually taking some sort of interest in a strong Civil Rights bill.

Eh, they're just coming to collect a paycheck. Let 'em duck a few tomatoes. It's healthy for politicians to see the wrath of their subjects from time to time.

I really wish I could meet and talk to some political figure I really don't like. I'm so non-confrontational in real life, I'd probably end up trying to be nice and change the subject to a discussion about dogs or something.

A friend spotted Donald Rumsfeld in Dupont Circle last year. He was in a hurry to get to CVS. I would have followed him in and struck up a conversation on the Redskins or something.

Oh, I should also add that I completely despise Karl Rove. There are few scummier human beings on this earth than him.

I would also be equally as pissed if some GOP group were to shout down someone like Cindy Sheehan.

Also, I'll take a look in to that book, but honestly, I'm not much of a reader. Terrible ADD...
