I've been to PA; it's got its share of country I've hit a block...I'm trying to channel my godmother as she was the queen of sayings, but it ain't comin to me :/Some were just hers though...she's the only one I knew that said, "gonna have to call ole Roy Jones"
9/3/2010 9:52:21 PM
Since they were knee high on a grasshopper!
9/3/2010 9:52:27 PM
djeternal. i <3 you and all. but my countrified part of the family says boot ALL of the time in reference to the trunk
9/3/2010 9:53:18 PM
This may or may not be country, but it got thrown around a bit when my mother felt like being snarky:"Wish in one hand and shit in the other and see which ones fills up first."
9/3/2010 9:57:40 PM
Depends on the time of day... early my wish is good, after work shit is gonna win this one

My dad always said "directly" as if it were a time. And I've caught myself doing a few times. "I'm just going up the road a bit. I'll be back directly"Also I say "fixing" a lot. "I'm fixing to go the store, does anyone need anything?"There's several more that I'm not remembering at the moment. My grandma uses these southern-isms, or whatever you want to call them, all the time. And I pick them up from her and my dad. Then there are some (like "honey") that I never realized were country/southern phrases until I ventured out in the world. Remember a few:My grandma always says "study". She uses it like the word "think" kind of. "I didn't know what was wrong with the TV, so I studied that I must have hit a button on the remote"She also says "aim to". "Are you going to the grocery store today?" "I aim to".I've always heard "fitting" as an adjective a lot, meaning good. "How was dinner?" "It was fitting" (different from saying "how fitting" or something like that)[Edited on September 3, 2010 at 11:25 PM. Reason : c]
