fuck california and fuck the California Air Resources Board. they are a bunch of busybody douchenozzles who have likely never even filled up the gas tank on a piece of power equipment.all fuel containers (like the plastic jugs you keep gas for a lawnmower in) have to be vented into the tank and they have to have some sort of shutoff valve. this is somehow supposed to reduce the amount of fuel vapor that enters the atmosphere and help prevent spills. i guess they don't realize that, during fueling, the old type jugs with the separate vent hole actually pull air into the fuel jug through the vent. with the new jugs, you're still displacing the air/vapor mixture from inside the tank on the equipment. the vent in the nozzle slows down the fueling process so there's actually more time with the tank lid off and more time for gas to evaporate. as for the spill-proof bullshit, the valves and stuff don't work worth a damn and you need about 4 hands to operate them, so you end up spilling a hell of a lot more gas than before with the old ones. all these piece of shit nozzles with springs and shit do not function properly and/or break way too easily and the cost of gas jugs increased significantly.so today i went and bought two motorsports "utility jugs" (racing fuel jugs) with the separate vent and a plain old flexible tube for a nozzle. very similar to the one shown below. fuck those tree huggers.for all the others who are fed up with these shitty fuel jugs, you can purchase them at most speed shops and motorsports supply places. best selection and prices would probably be CV Products in Thomasville, NC.who else hates these new jugs?

fuck that shit
8/24/2010 2:28:32 AM
that's the exact kind that sucks so bad
8/24/2010 2:29:43 AM
oil can what
8/24/2010 2:31:00 AM
I like them, my jet ski trailer had spots for two of them. it was convenient.
8/24/2010 2:32:21 AM
you have to push that tab on the nozzle against the filler neck to open the valve. that makes it pretty difficult to use a funnel or to fill up an automobile.and without a separate vent it takes for fucking ever.
8/24/2010 2:35:38 AM
I keep a can full of gas like this in the trunk of my car in case I run out of gas on the highway[Edited on August 24, 2010 at 2:36 AM. Reason : shit's legit ]
8/24/2010 2:35:40 AM
unfortunately companies are no longer allowed to sell that type of cannot to mention that metal cans are no good for storing that shitty E10 fuel that so many places carry now
8/24/2010 2:43:52 AM
E10 is a corn industry/lobby hoax
8/24/2010 2:48:08 AM
worse gas mileagesame pricehell on older fuel systemsterrible for watercrafti go out of my way to avoid E10
8/24/2010 2:49:57 AM
costs more to refine than it saves
8/24/2010 4:41:31 AM
for some unknown reason can only legally be made from corn[Edited on August 24, 2010 at 5:18 AM. Reason : i realize other things can be used to make it]

I have four of the standard red gas containers and do not have much trouble with them. For my 5 gallon tanks, I use a funnel though as those bastards can be tricky when full. And yes it is extremely frustrating that California dictates so many laws and product designs in this country.[Edited on August 24, 2010 at 8:03 AM. Reason : sd]

Ever since I quit taking my Pristiq, I've had nice little anger flare-ups every now and then...and I just had one thinking about the cocksmokers that came up with this goddamn nonsense. I wish California would hurry up and quake itself right into the Pacific, and take all the asspirate treehuggers with them.
8/24/2010 8:52:43 AM
^this.
8/24/2010 9:04:47 AM
^^^^ California doesn't officially dictate anything, no. But it is the largest economy in the US and the 8th largest in the world by itself so companies will cater to what the the state needs because it's economically beneficial to them. Ah, free market.[Edited on August 24, 2010 at 9:10 AM. Reason : cali is also the leading producer of agricultural products in the us too, more to the point]

i use glass gas cans

Those racing jugs are great, but pricey iirc. $30-$40ish each?I have one gas can that has two chambers in the nozzle, so one chamber pours the gas and the other sucks air in. It seems like a good design, but it takes me an incredibly long time to fill my ski with ~3.5 gallons of gas. Neither chamber is big enough to get a decent flow.My other is an older version of the one NCSUAllday posted that still has the vent on the top/back near the carry handle. It's much faster, although I still wish it flowed like those race fuel jugs. It gets old standing there for a couple of minutes with that thing perched on my shoulder trying to fill the boat. It's the only way I can get non-ethanol gas in it right now though, so it has to be done.
8/24/2010 9:22:18 AM
with the new liberal gas cans, I end up spilling more than I did with the vented types, because i'm impatient.but i'm not spending $30 for a gas can. fuck that.

DURR buy a jerry can. Or a diesel can. Or a kerosene can
8/24/2010 9:58:51 AM
Most jobsites require you to use safety cans.http://www.google.com/images?hl=en&source=imghp&biw=1440&bih=719&q=safety+can&gbv=2&aq=f&aqi=g10&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=
8/24/2010 10:16:41 AM
2stroke can, water can, kerosene can, etc. a lot cheaper than race jugs. I don't even use race jugs at the track, I just ride my bike to the damn pump lol.

Plastic jug and a funnel. I just saved you 30 dollars, bitches.

"The Gang Solves the Gas Crisis"
8/24/2010 11:59:02 AM
^^while you might not care, are you aware it is illegal to put fuel in anything except approved containers? At least to transport them I think?
8/24/2010 12:07:58 PM
Not only was I completely unaware of it being illegal, but I carry at a minimum seven milk jugs of gasoline in the trunk of my car. At all times.
8/24/2010 12:23:15 PM
^why in the fuck would you do that? gas containers are thicker than milk jugs for a reason
8/24/2010 12:34:52 PM
A real gas can is like $7.No way I'd roll around with milk jugs full of gas in my car to save $7.This has got to be a troll.

I suffer from a genetic disability that renders me unable to check my fuel gauge at regular intervals and determine when to go to the gas station to refill my tank. Sadly, it also affects my ability to regulate biological needs. Therefore I also keep a case of MREs and a pack of clean underwear in the truck. In other words, for the dense - nothing I have posted in this thread is to be taken seriously. Calm down, crackers.

8/24/2010 7:49:47 PM
drill a very small vent hole in the container if the vapor smell isn't an issue
8/24/2010 8:14:28 PM
then if it rains on it while it's in the back of the truck i get even more water in the gas. it'd be pretty easy to install a tire valve stem w/o the core and just use one of the black plastic caps to close the vent. that doesn't get rid of the annoying valves in the nozzles, though.

8/24/2010 8:49:18 PM
8/24/2010 8:53:41 PM
That post was half in jest and half serious. That boat plug would make a hell of a vent. I might actually do that the next time my jet ski can is empty. I'm sure I already have the bit and the plug. How would one go about acquiring a 'coreless valve stem'? Would I just take a valve stem and unscrew that little button in the middle?
8/24/2010 9:12:35 PM
ha ha, i bought one of these new gas jugs at lowes earlier this year. the valve mechanism inside the nozzle lived a very short life after it took like 5 minutes to fill up the lawnmower during mid-mow in the hot sun. i clearly remember my grandfather sending me to the store with $1.00 and empty antifreeze jug. even as an 8 year old kid, it wasn't that difficult hit pour it with out spilling gas all over the place. people have gotten to namby pamby in general.[Edited on August 24, 2010 at 9:33 PM.
