They are stock and way too dim IMO. What would be a good upgrade, just new halogen bulbs?
I want to be able to drive at night and see stuff > 10 yards away.

I'm sure these things have a very clowdy haze on them.

A rag and some toothpaste do wonders with a little elbow grease

Or you can spend money on a complete head light buffing kit and put in some silverstar bulbs if you want.

just buy some knock-off replacements off ebay. not worth the time/effort to fuck with the restoration kits.

mine were hazed over on the inside anyway.

I'll try the toothpaste, how's this? I kind of feel like I don't wanna pay $70...

would something like this still work/be legal for use in my car?

I think this might be an overkill, but the price isn't bad...

If you have projectors designed for them, they're great. If you've got reflective lenses, they just throw light all over the place, blind people in front of you, and provide little additional usable light.

just buy new headlights from Certifit. I think they're ~$20/each.

not quite

http://www.certifit.com/c-1-headlights.aspx?Year=1998&Make=CHEVROLET&

+ shipping and tax it comes out to like $40 each.

So finally, I guess I only need to replace my low beam lights right (9006), since I'm in Raleigh I almost never use the high beams (9005).

if you took the time to look at their site it would have asked you for a warehouse location.
