I bought this phone used to replace a dead phone, but I did not know Verizon required a data plan to activate the phone. Its a good phone for $20, which is what I paid for it. Comes in the box with everything that originally came with it.

So.... what works on it without needing the data plan? If I can get to a browser I'll buy it.

if you plan on using it with verizon...

I don't plan on using it with Verizon - I just need it unlocked or whatever so I can browse the net over wifi. And if someone has the ability I'll pay to get it to that state.

How long have you had this phone? I had a PPC6800 (same phone back when Alltel was around) and it served me really well. I wound up purchasing a lesser, non-smart phone, was told I wouldn't need a data plan. They lied. I wound up having to get one anyway. If this phone is fairly new, I'd have to seriously consider buying it to replace my non-smart phone.

I can verify that the phone is in really good condition and works great. If you're gonna have the data plan anyway, you can't go wrong with this one ... especially for $20.
