Topic. I've never taken one of these before but do they actually give different work, assignments, etc. depending on which section. ex) PHI and STS 325 combined into one.

I'm not sure what you mean. Are you talking about a cross-listed course?

Probably What is the definition of a cross-listed course?

What I am talking about is that there is a philosophy class and also a science technology class but they both have the same title called 'Bio ethics" and number (325) but different departments are offering it, which I need to take for a minor. Your can sign up for either PHI or STS and what I want to know if is there is a difference in what things you will do depending on which one you sign up for and if so which one is easier.

I'm pretty sure you're describing a cross-listed course; where the same class is listed under two or more different departments and/or course numbers. The course title will be the same. The work in the course will be the same. The case where it may not be the same is a course cross-listed as both a undergraduate and graduate course e.g. ABC 493o/593o. In that case, there may be different requirements for the students taking the course at the 500 level for graduate credit. That circumstance will be described by the instructor on the first day of class.

in my experience, they're the same exact course.

I took LOG335 - Symbolic Logic. Which is also listed as MA335 - Symbolic Logic. Same exact course, instructor, session time, etc. Some people in my class had signed up for LOG335, some had signed up for MA335.

I had the same experience with a class last semester for PHI and STS. I think it was STS/PHI 269 or something. A bullshit class, but same shit for both departments.

Well I tried to get into STS 325 today , since PHI 325 was closed, it had 1 seat available and it still won't let me enroll, said it was full even though it clearly had a green circle next to it and said Open.

it's probably because some of the seats are restricted to a certain population

says Restricted to "Junior and Seniors only", that is the only restriction and I am a Junior with 77 hrs.
