One of my co-workers bought a brand new Murano. Drove it three years until the warranty was about to run out and traded it for a Civic. It really was some junk. The only specific thing I remember is that the rotors warped every time anyone looked at them. He was getting the rotors replaced every 3 months and he was an old dude who didn't even drive it hard. Other than that it was just a ton of misc little problems that worried him to death. He refused to own it out of warranty. Made me think it was a Land Rover or some shit.

That explains why the price dropped on em. Looking to spend no more than 16ish and she wants a cuv type. We are also looking at the patriot and equinox too but are open to suggestions.

^^ I thought the CX-7 has a bad wrap. I looked into that car and came out the other side not impressed.

A few years ago, I would have said Murano, but I personally don't like the way it drives.

Now I'd say the Edge. It doesn't look as nice imo, but I think that it's pretty functional.

^I haven't driven a CX-7 but I've ridden in one and I've heard it's fun to drive (for a CUV). The only bad thing I've heard about it is its turbo engine is a little thirsty. I have driven an Edge (was my rental car in CA for 5 days) and hated it. It's big and heavy yet doesn't have a lot of interior space. It's slow and it gets bad gas mileage. I have yet to figure out what it is good for.

CX-7 has the same powerplant as the Mazdaspeed3 iirc, and that is a pretty reliable setup.

Q5 would be more appropriate.

Or the BMW X1.

Or Infiniti EX35 or FX37.

"crossover SUVs" are about the most fail you can get on four wheels. They aren't good at anything.

If you want a car, buy a car. If you need something to do truck stuff, get a truck. "Crossovers" aren't really jacks of all trades...they pretty much just suck.

^^ well, it is not just aesthetic mods, it also has a more powerful engine.

and anyway, regardless of engine upgrades or lack thereof, yes, putting tasteful bigger rims, fatter tires, and a nice bodykit makes any car look hotter.

(of course, it is assumed i am talking about a tasteful kit, not some ricer or ghetto shit)

Personally, on a vehicle that handles like shit and can't tow/haul anything, I'd rather have a less powerful, less expensive, more efficient engine. The extra power isn't going to do much for you.

...but then again, I would never buy a vehicle that's, like, a four of all trades and fairly capable of none.

I'm back wit anudda phat ass story for all yall! The other night I was chillin wit my fly ass honey when I see a purple Civic fly by that I ain't ever seen before! So I tell my biddie Yo honey it's like 8:30 and it's already like half an hour past yo curfew, and since we don't need no mo statuatory rape charges on my ass I better u get u home baby!! So I drop her fine lil ass at her pops house and roll back to where I seen that purple Civie.

Shit there he was just chillin and shit...so I roll up and see this chumps like 70 years old(that explains why that car still looks stock) so I roll up and I'm like yo gramps y u chillin in a phat ass whip like a Civic You should be whippin sometin like a Bonneville in yo old wrinkled ass!! So he looks at me like "son I read in a ton of magazines that this car is great on gas and it suits me just fine for pickin up my groceries every week! So I look at the dirty ol' bastard and I'm like what u dissin the top sports car of all time? Dammit I'll show ur old ass what's up!

So I run back and jump in my ride and get ready to run! I throw in some ol school, Vanilla Ice, and get ready to run(my biotch has my Ludacris CD which is my normal racin musac). The old man has already left the parkin lot so I'm like yeah that's right u best be runnin bitch! Yo so I do a rollback and get some mad tire spin, heatin up my tires! I leave the lot and catch the old geezer at the next set of lights. I pull up and he's like Don't you have anything better to do son? So I'm like Son? You call me son one more time and it's on old man!

So I sit there and rev my shit to like 3000! Bang the light turns green and I'm off...Hell yeah I have this old bastard by like 2 car lengths right off the line, I fake like I'm manually shifting to second and I spill my Slurpee all over myself. Damn it's on my light up knob shifta and the old man won! I've had enough! I get him at the next lights and get out of my whip take my visor off and I'm like You wanna dance ol' man? So he says Son I've asked you to leave me alone before I've had enuff of your lil uneducated, no respect havin, can't dress for crap, punk ass!

Then he gets out at the car and I throw a punch at him! I missed him! Always happens to me!
So the bastard then headbutts me and when I go to grab my nose he kicks me in the nuts, so I try to hold my nuts and my nose at the same time when he then punches me in the throat! Shit this gramps has all the moves! So I'm layin on the ground bleedin and in some major pain thinkin bout how I ain't gettin no head fo like a month now when the ol bastard decides to pepper spray me!!! Shit I couldn't breathe and my eyes were waterin like a waterfall! Shit I wouldn't call that cryin cuz only bitch ass domestic drivers do that after they lose to us civic boyz!!

So the ol guy gets in his car and leaves. I haven't seen him since that night, he lucky too cuz all my fine ass biddies be upset that they ain't gettin any from me! So they lookin to kick grampa's ass!

Video: Juke film answers the question - What were Nissan designers thinking?

Quote :
"The 2011 Nissan Juke has what some might call 'controversial' styling. It's downright polarizing. So, where did Nissan pull its inspiration from in order to craft these lines? Alfonso Albaisa is the Vice President of Nissan Design Europe and he's here to explain exactly why the Juke looks like it does.

Albaisa states that the essence of the Juke "captures the pure life of a 30-something year-old guy." The vehicle is aimed at a younger demographic of new car buyer and Nissan's goal was to turn lifestyle elements into design features. The interior is supposed to be reminiscent of a person wearing a wetsuit while the front end is intended to invoke visions of a rally car.

Automotive designers are always entertaining to listen to, and Alfonso Albaisa is no exception. His descriptive language wended its way into our brains giving us a greater appreciation for Nissan's little sporty crossover. Don't believe us? Listen to the man in the clip after the jump."

As a guy, I understand how CUVs can be viewed negatively. That said, comparing the CUV to a car or a truck is comparing apples to oranges...the only fair comparison is to compare it to an SUV or a minivan. Obviously, all three types cater to the same type of consumer base, and I can assure you that it's not geared towards single males.

So either you're a female, or a family man if you're considering CUVs (mostly)

If you're a single female, the obvious answer is a car. Of course, depending on your personality, maybe you'd prefer a truck. I know many women that like the comfort of "riding high", being able to see down on the road, to have the better viewpoint. Now if you have a woman that's hellbent on sitting high on the road, it's either truck, SUV, CUV, or van. If the girl just wants something to drive around, that offers the closest experience to being in a car, I'd believe the CUV wins.

Now if you're a family man, then you know that your wife will probably have the final say in what you buy. If she's like the single female and wants the comfort of sitting high on the road, then you won't get a car, even if it's a full-size. Trucks, CUVs, SUVs, and vans all give the impression of having more cargo space than a car, and if she feels that any truck/CUV/SUV/van will provide more cargo space, even if the odds of filling said cargo space is once in five years, then the car will not be an option.

So now we've narrowed down the choices to a truck, CUV, SUV, and van. Vans are very practical, so then it's a question of whether your wife is vain. Vans became very unpopular with the rise of the SUV. The social stigma of the minivan doesn't help either. If the wife is vain or cares about her "appearance" through the car that she drives, you're not getting a van.

So now we're down to a truck, SUV, and CUV. Trucks are great for hauling goods around. They're also very thirsty. An extended cab is mandatory to haul kids around. Most families won't have the need to lug 2 tons of granite, a boat, or any other excessively large item. Trucks also carry a certain type of stigma. It works here in the south, but go elsewhere and it's not too commonplace. Cue the vain wife again, and strike out the truck.

So now it's between the SUV and CUV, which should be the main comparison. One is built on a truck platform, the other on a car platform. The CUV handles better. The CUV sacrifices engine power and towing capability for better gas mileage. Looks are subjective...I've asked my wife about the "SUVs" that she likes, and she always tends to favor the CUV in the looks department. They both do a good job of hauling people and goods.

When you break it down, the CUV looks like a more attractive option than its given credit for. Yeah, it does nothing really well. When you look at it, then it's more of a optimistic or pessimistic viewpoint. It's either "not good at anything" or "has no glaring weaknesses". The CUV is a great option for a certain niche of people, but the niche is fairly large. Would I buy one as my daily driver? Hell no. Would I buy one for the wife? Absolutely, at least until I'm ready to buy a boat...then I'd upgrade to the SUV with the improved towing capability. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I'm just sayin'.

Half of your argument isn't even logical. I know you're trying to explain "what people like" but it's not logical.

The bottom line is that a CUV is inferior to a station wagon in every objective and measurable way.

^^^ Believe me, I'm not even sure what I just said. To sum it up though, it's basically this: CUVs were built for women, and they will either logically or illogically come up with the choice to own one.

Personally, as a married man, I'm already going through the process of accepting the likelihood that I'll be owning one in the next five years. I'll try to make the best of a bad situation.

See my post above your big post. Nissan's chief designer in Europe says the Juke "captures the pure life of a 30-something year-old guy." And that pure life includes according to him, sport bikes, rally racing, diving, snow boarding, etc.

Just see the video!

I like superdudes argument it sums it up pretty good.

After two months with the Rogue and 2k miles later its a really great vehicle. Great mileage handles great and has a lot of cargo room. the back seat is comfortable well all things we did not have with the car she had and she loves it so I would recommend for a wife not so much for a husband though a little on the ~ side.
