This is pretty much the perfect song. I wish I'd danced to it at prom.

go on...
8/4/2010 8:47:49 AM
Okay, so it's got the kind of smooth, lite rock vibe going on at first, right? With a touch of bluesy sentiment. Chicks get lulled in by that stuff. But it gets pretty anthemic with all the NA NA NA NA NAs at the end there. And it doesn't wear out its welcome. It's a pretty rockin' song for a bittersweet slow dance jam!

i preferred your Black Crowes thread of yore
8/4/2010 8:52:11 AM
Refresh my memory.Never mind, you mean this one: message_topic.aspx?topic=599507Yeah, so, true story: When you said "of yore," I thought you meant an older thread, right? And there's this Black Crowes thread I've always wanted to make where I just type a verbatim interpration of the incomprehensible lyrics in "Hard to Handle." But I couldn't remember whether I'd ever actually made that thread.[Edited on August 4, 2010 at 8:54 AM. Reason : ...]
8/4/2010 8:52:46 AM
Also a true story: I wish I'd saved my thread to make a thread about "Rock 'N' Roll Fantasy" by Bad Company instead.HERE COME THE JESTERONE TWO THREE
8/4/2010 8:55:52 AM
i'd subscribe to that
8/4/2010 9:14:46 AM
I'll keep that one in my pocket.
8/4/2010 9:16:29 AM
brass thread in pocket?

Gonna use my arms, gonna use my...thread?

How do you feel about the Glee mashup of Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin' and Any Way You Want It?I enjoy it, but I feel it lacks of little of the passion and vocal depth of Steve Perry.
8/4/2010 9:36:20 AM
Perry has some great control and subtlety in the studio cut. Glee didn't capture that. That part that goes, "You're tearin' me apart/Oh every, every day"? God damn, the depth of feeling rising up just below the surface, its true shape only hinted at, like a brief glimpse of the back of a great whale breaking the surface ever so gently...!

somebody gimme a freaking like button already
8/4/2010 10:21:07 AM
i love this song...for all the reasons mentioned originally and it just has a very sensual feel for a rock song...another song that fits into that same category is Rocky Mountain Way by Joe Walsh...there is nothing sexual or anything about the lyrics...but just the music and the way he sings it has the same effect
8/4/2010 10:27:31 AM
cool music like journey used to be my go-to tool for picking up chicksthen i discovered alcohol
8/4/2010 10:28:44 AM

8/4/2010 10:29:17 AM
don't label me.....i post cat pictures too
8/4/2010 10:34:57 AM
the problem with anyone covering journey is that steve perry isn't part of it
8/4/2010 10:42:25 AM
That is also the problem with current Journey as well.
8/4/2010 10:43:55 AM
This thread has succeeded beyond my wildest dreams.

If it's peaked, it might be time we go our separate ways.

This one sometimes is forgotten, but I like it. It was a Top 20 hit back in the day."Still They Ride"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWMU2JSOhmgThis one was good for slow dancing, too:"Open Arms"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2lLmYLw0WRIBut, yeah, I slow danced to the OP tune many a night with young ladies who smelled of sweet perfume and bubble gum. Ah, the '80s.

all Journey songs remind me of roller skating rinks and state fair midways when i was a little kid.although I do like "Separate Ways" ... that was on MTV forever.
