with all the unemployed in today's economy and tww, i figured this would save time of having to retell it to everyone numerous times. SO how did your interview go today?

They made me an offer that I couldn't refuse (but I asked to sit on it bc I have another interview next week and want to honor that/see what they say/see what they offer)

Congrats!I had two phone interviews last week, and am flying back early for an on-site interview in about two weeks. Hopefully with all this effort both sides have put into it this, the interview is more or less a formality.

Yeah this was the Durham job, but the offer would make the commute worth itThe other is definitely closer, on glenwood. 5 minute commute versus 35-45. Durham job I'm more qualified for, but I'm excited the Glenwood job is considering me. We'll see how things go next week And thanks y'all! If anything at least one celebratory beverage is in order--for saying goodbye ESC! Haha^good luck![Edited on July 29, 2010 at 4:21 PM. Reason : ][Edited on July 29, 2010 at 4:24 PM. Reason : ]

7/29/2010 4:39:44 PM
I have sent in another application and I am pretty sure I won't hear from them. btw, not that it had anything to do with today, but does anyone have connections at the NC department of cultural resources in Raleigh?
7/29/2010 4:43:08 PM
Today = bad (other candidates were certified vet techs - blah)but when I got back, I got 2 random phone calls from places I applied to a while ago telling me that both of them have microbiologist positions that they are interested in me filling. One door closes, another one (or 2) open
7/29/2010 5:07:28 PM
As I said via pm, but the short version--w00t!!
7/29/2010 5:12:50 PM
so you guys nix the moving idea?
7/29/2010 5:34:55 PM
No...it's still there. It's just not a good time right now. The job I was posting about that was "filled" while I played vm tag w/ HR was in Wilmington actually. Just another sign to us that it's not the right time.
7/29/2010 5:44:36 PM
still haven't heard back from the interview on Friday... I have another one tomorrow though with GSK- guess that's what's up
8/11/2010 3:01:08 PM
Be nice if I could get an interview in the first place
8/11/2010 3:09:56 PM
well I applied to like 10-20 new places every week, and this is just the results from that (3 total interview :-/ )it sucks, especially when you just flat out don't ever hear anything back
8/11/2010 3:11:05 PM
Just got a callback for round 2! WOOT! Time to gather my portfolio materials and prep for another interview next Tuesday.
9/22/2010 9:39:32 AM
Interview this past Monday went well in my opinion. I don't want to be too confident in case they call with a rejection, but I feel like I've got it in the bag. Got another one Friday and Tuesday. All 3 had pre-interview receptions. Free food ftw [Edited on September 22, 2010 at 9:41 AM. Reason : .]
9/22/2010 9:41:06 AM
^ Pre-interview receptions? I've never experienced that. What kind of position? I'm a tad envious. Then again, I've started all but one of my jobs as a contractor before being hired as a perm employee, so there's a lot less fuss/hoopla during the recruiting process.I want some free food, darnit!
9/22/2010 9:45:02 AM
All of the interviewees this week have been morons. How you gonna put skills on your resume and not know anything about it?
9/22/2010 9:48:06 AM
so as I was starting out my teaching career, I went to career fairs and did lots of interviews... well one of the buzz words in education was "best practices" and it was a talking point in most of the interviews I had.Well, I was being interviewed by two fairly attractive women for a job at a school, and when asked about best practices I had a perfectly well thought out, insightful answer. It was only to my horror that about halfway through my response i realized that i had said "Breast Practices"... damn you Sigmund Freud.

^ahahahahahah they probably got all blushy because you didn't skip a beat till you realized latermine went damn well. it was two weeks ago at the steel plant I worked at for a few years. I will be the second most experienced person in the plant if they hire me (as far as having high saturated knowledge in all but two departments).... and it's fucking entry level. fuck my life One more week till i'm supposed to hear from them. hope i do[Edited on May 17, 2013 at 9:55 AM. Earlier in this thread, or maybe a different thread, I advocated for folks interviewing for jobs even if they didn't necessarily want to change. This was advice I got when I was a couple of years out of college, and I followed it by interviewing for at least one job outside of my company every year. Anyway, I "practice" interviewed for a job back in December, and then in February an opening came up for a job that's been a semi-dream job for a long time. I didn't think I was ready, but went after it anyway. I did end up getting the job, and have been at it for a month now. Talking to one of my 'new' peers yesterday (who was my manager three jobs ago), I found out that there were over a hundred applicants for three openings, and the first round interview (out of 6) went so well, that "I'd have had to say something racist" to not get the job at that point. Yes, i'm bragging a bit here, because it's the internet and I can.. and also I had no idea i did that well. I was sweating bullets after every round.

If you are going on an interview AND have relevant experience (I Would say say at least 2 years worth) this here is a fantastic read:http://www.wral.com/expert-how-to-negotiate-the-most-lucrative-5-minutes-of-your-life/12449108/

I have an interview Monday morning with a company that I've been really hoping to go to work for, and I'm nervous as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs. Fingers crossed. I really need this job.

For the last week, I've been trying to decide between two job offers. I got a call this morning with a third--a research position at an Ivy League school--so this really throws a wrench in my decision-making process. I was hoping they were calling to turn me down so it would make things easier.#firstworldproblems #humblebrag

I had an interview with a tv station in Greenville this week. Expected a quick in-and-out meeting, but ended up being there for 5 hours. They had me meet/interact/shadow almost everyone in the station. I'm a little nervous, b/c they have said they would send the follow-up writing evaluation via email, but haven't yet. I've emailed and talked to the woman that interviewed me, but it's still not in my inbox. I worry that they're not that interested, but she also said they've had a few people out sick and they are busy. We will see... keep your fingers crossed for me!
