http://www.fordvehicles.com/suvs/explorer/2011/I'd take it. Nice seeing all the stolen land rover tech showing up in a domestic.

don't like the front end

it looks like a pumped up Edge...which isn't a good thing.

I think it's a good change for Ford. The truck-based explorer hasn't been a top choice among 4x4 folks for a long time. I probably wouldn't buy one myself, but I think it will be a fantastic seller.

I don't think it looks like the Edge at all. I agree with bcvaugha. I think it looks like an explorer + rover. I would buy it, but not for $28,000.

just flipping through the specs and it's got (or can have) everything. self parking, backup camera, terrain control. I think they'll sell the snot out of them. I guess now that they've sold off rover there is no reason to hold back the goodies.

Jalopnik said it best:

damn that's pretty slick. i just wonder if they have all of the bugs worked out. seems like a lot of shit that will break.

Ford LandorusOne thing from ford i dont like. It looks like shit and the suspension is going to be junk in 7 years

Most of the ones sold will probably be the turbo 4 cylinder. Just wait until highschoolers all start putting blowoff valves on their hand-me-down Exploders.
7/26/2010 10:14:29 PM
^haha i can see that
7/26/2010 10:30:50 PM
did i hear right that the fwd 4 cyl will cost more than the base model v6?
7/26/2010 10:31:56 PM
^It looks like the Ecoboost 4 cyl is optional on all models
7/27/2010 2:37:54 PM
Wait a sec, there's a FWD model?!?In my book the Ford Explorer is no longer an SUV.
7/27/2010 2:48:27 PM
agreed. However, for the target market, it's pretty much a bullseye. The 2011 Ford Explorer is the most off-road-capable Ford Taurus ever, but it's not an SUVI guess the only issue I see is that it would seem to compete in the same space as the Flex.

News flash -- People don't buy the explorer for its off road capabilities. They buy it for the style and (sometimes) its towing capacity.
7/28/2010 8:31:20 AM
yeah, offroad enthusiasts aren't going to be pleased with it, but as a stockholder, i'm

Yeah I do not think people buy explorers for off roading...at least not new ones. People are tired of getting raped at the gas pump (myself included, hence my parked explorer with expired tags and Honda accord that's a daily driver) I would love to be able to get back in an SUV but get gas mileage similar to my car.
