What, exactly, is "The Homosexual Agenda?" Seems to me like it's a nice catch-all term for non-specific things that evangelicals don't like as related to gays. "Them homosexuals is at it again!" I guess the best way to de-humanize people is to forget that the "agenda" is merely human beings.

Today's example of the term comes from our friends at the American Family Association, calling on a boycott of Home Depot for their support of diversity:

http://action.afa.net/item.aspx?id=2147496231
Quote :
"For several years, The Home Depot has given its financial and corporate support to open displays of homosexual activism on main streets in America's towns.

Rather than remain neutral in the culture war, The Home Depot has chosen to sponsor and participate in numerous gay pride parades and festivals. Most grievous is The Home Depot's deliberately exposing small children to lascivious displays of sexual conduct by homosexuals and cross-dressers, which are a common occurrence at these events.

Judge for yourself by reviewing the photos below, taken during recent homosexual events sponsored by The Home Depot. Should The Home Depot be helping advance the homosexual agenda? And more importantly, will you choose to boycott The Home Depot?

The goal of every homosexual organization supported by The Home Depot is to get homosexual marriage legalized. The information below provides just a glimpse of how broad The Home Depot's support for the homosexual movement is."

In 2009, The Home Depot gave over $5,000 to be a major sponsor of the Nashville Gay Pride Festival. It also sponsored parades in Atlanta, Kansas City, Portland and San Diego. Read more.

The Home Depot offers insurance benefits that cover sex-changes operations for employees. That insurance also extends to same-sex partners of homosexual employees, proving The Home Depot considers gay couples as "married." Source: Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index

In 2008, The Home Depot sponsored the Durham Pride Weekend with a kid's workshop and parade march. The events include "massages for couples" and "Drag Shows."

As early as 2005, The Home Depot placed a full-page ad in the Out & Equal homosexual workplace conference program guide."

As far as the AFA is concerned, Home Depot isn't showing support for its gay employees and customers, and participating in community events and parades... it's merely furthering an "agenda."

Shit, I had a completely wrong idea about what goes on at gay pride parades, seriously, the exact opposite.

The homosexual agenda in reality is not unlike any other groups agenda. The increased acceptance and mainstream popularity of one's philosophy. There's nothing sinister about that. No one wants to convert anyone, if for mo other reason than the fact that the homosexual lobby rejects the notion that conversion in either direction is even possible!

The homosexual agenda as named (as opposed to in reality) is nothing more than a manufactured bogeyman, created by right wing loonies like James Dobson and AFA in order to foment opposition to an innocent group of citizens for religious reasons

My political agenda is to get anti-gay laws off the books like DADT & DOMA.

Sure mainstream acceptance is a happy addition, but getting specific anti-gay laws off the books is the big deal. If DOMA was removed I could file my taxes together with my husband, we could buy car insurance together, he would be the assumed inheritor if I pass away, I wouldn't have to pay for tons of secondary contracts/documentation to approximate marriage despite being married, I wouldn't have to worry about hospital visitation issues (President Obama fixed a lot about this issue, but not completely), people I know would be able to immigrate and live together instead of being married but having to live in separate countries unlike a couple I know where a girl went to college in Canada, they married, and he was able to live here. Our society bases so many things on marriage. I'm fine with those who say get the gov out of marriage, or those who say marriage for all couples, because once its equal across the board all these other secondary marriage issues will be dealt with/evened out.

My political agenda is also to support campaign finance reform efforts. It's also to support animal welfare laws. It's also to pass comprehensive sex ed laws. It's also to support environmental protections. And many other things. In most cases it is to support measures I support. Equality for gay people is one of the few areas where its more of a negative orientation, in that I was to get some stupid discriminatory government rules removed. I think that makes it different than a lot of other groups that want more support or whatever in that this is specifically to remove discriminatory laws. And to some degree we already have the support (which gets really high when you look at those under 50 years old):

A national anti-gay marriage group called the national organization for marriage is doing a bus tour around much of the nation:

Here is one of their latest protest of gays:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZ0nkykrTBw&feature=player_embedded

Here is the larger counter-protest:
http://ideationplantation.blogspot.com/2010/07/standing-by-love.html

And as you can see these moral busybodies will be busing into Raleigh to tell our legislators what laws North Carolinians should be subjected to.

good to see the market is far ahead of government in not only economic issues, but social ones as well.

To answer the OP:

It's basically a conservative catch phrase.

You basically take whatever you don't like and put "agenda" at the end. Suddenly, it stops being something righteous and starts becoming something insidious. A planned infestation. A planned takeover. "Agenda" implies that they've got some secret angle. Some secret angle they don't want you to know about!

Liberal "agenda"

Activist "agenda"

Homosexual "agenda"

White House "agenda"

Democrat "agenda"

Take your pick.

that is true

which is why I think it is only right and proper to speak of the "theocratic agenda"

^^ But some of those uses are legitimate. Activists DO have an agenda. The White House DOES have an agenda.

"The Homosexual Agenda" has been used to demonize and fearmonger for a variety of anti-gay, anti-diversity and anti-bullying means.

Well sure.

I mean, gays have an "agenda." Their agenda is to get themselves equal rights.

^don't get me wrong, I don't mind heteroSEXuals, but if some of them are going to dress like this

then I think its best if we have a few laws keeping all of them away from the rest of the population, you know, just to be safe, and of course to protect the childrens

I didn't realize that gays were pro-bullying.

But I'm confused as to your specific issue here. Is it the phrase "homosexual agenda?" Because as several people have pointed out, there is such a thing and it's pretty benign.

Pretty much any term that anti-gay advocates use will be pejorative, with the intent of demonizing and fearmongering.
