Ruckus is incredible. Amante's is also quite delicious. I do enjoy the ingredients Lilly's has to offer, too. Plus, their pizza dough is nommy. ]

My favorite pizza place was the pizza joint near five points. The Hawaiian Punch pizza was the shit. Place was run by a bunch of hippies.
7/11/2010 6:30:12 PM
Moonlight and Capital Creations are pretty dope.
7/11/2010 6:30:56 PM
Moonlight's pretty good...but got nothing on Lily's.

lily's for fancy/weird/gourmet or whatever you want to call it.ruckus for everything else
7/11/2010 6:52:17 PM
I've had Ruckus pizza twice... and it was one of the most okay pizzas I've ever tasted.
7/11/2010 6:53:22 PM
This is pretty much my thread. And the answer is:Piccolo Italia. Ask for it to be well done to get the perfect slightly charred crust.
7/11/2010 6:53:35 PM
There is this little place called Vic's i think at city market over close to Woody's and they have pretty good pizza. love lilly's & Ruckus
7/11/2010 6:53:37 PM
vic's is goodbut if i'm going there i'm getting chicken parm or somethingalso, it's close enough to frank's to go there if i wanted pizza
7/11/2010 6:54:43 PM
And asking this to a bunch of North Carolinians is like asking a guido from Brooklyn about Eastern or Western BBQ.
7/11/2010 6:55:15 PM
I've always thought Amore's was the best
7/11/2010 6:55:53 PM

7/11/2010 6:56:24 PM

7/11/2010 7:08:47 PM
pretty sure they don't let you go into restaurants nekkidi know i've tried
7/11/2010 7:09:12 PM
Eh, maybe I haven't had anything you'd truly consider NY style, but what I've seen of pizza that claims to be NY style seemed to follow four basic instructions:1. Get super-thin crust2. Put a little bit of sauce and cheese on top3. Now burn the shit out of the bottom of it4. Now bathe it in grease for a few hoursThe result is greasy cardboard with some toppings. Then again, when I had pizza in NY City itself (which didn't explicitly claim to be NY style), it wasn't very different from the general american style of pizza, aside from being more carefully prepared and generally better. So maybe it's just the exports that suck huge dick.[Edited on July 11, 2010 at 7:13 PM. ^Fuck, oops. Yeah, I meant Chigago deep dish. Don't know why Boston got in my head.
7/11/2010 7:14:27 PM
So you're saying you haven't even had pizza in NY to base your opinion on?It's not the pizza being in NY that makes it good. It's not a North/South/East/West thing. It's that there are a lot of places in NY that do know how to make great pizza, partially stemming from the fact that they've been doing it there longer than anyone else. There are also more mediocre places than any place on earth. Now the whole Chicago/NY style thing is a sheer preferential argument. I like both styles if done properly, but I'm still partial to NY style.
